What do Victoria Beckham, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kylie Minogue, Michelle Pfeiffer and Camilla, the Queen Consort of England, all have in common? Heaven, the U.K. skincare brand created by British aesthetician Deborah Mitchell, who parlayed a discovery of bee venom’s effect on the skin into a global beauty brand. They are all big fans of the products, and now, the tight-lipped Brit — a regular at Buckingham Palace — is sharing her beauty secrets.
"I have worked with royals and celebrities, but I don’t talk about them,” says Mitchell. "However, one product everyone asks for is the Bee Sting Kit, which includes a cleanser, bee polish, orange flower, age defiance overnight success and bee venom. I also designed the Age Defiance serum with hyaluronic acid — Victoria Beckham found it really useful, as did Duran Duran band member Andy Taylor and his wife, Tracy, who both loved it for its anti-aging and spot repair revelation."
Her products are notoriously hard to find in the U.S. but a devoted site for American beauty aficionadoes now makes that easier: https://heavenskincare.com/. It’s the perfect shopping cart for Valentine’s Day gifts — for any gender!
And Mitchell is finally opening up — to Morning Honey! — about the Heaven brand and why it’s different.
"I had very bad acne as a teenager,” she says. “I’d tried everything to stop the spots and black heads, from tooth paste to nail varnish remover. Most 13 and 14-year-olds believe oily spotty skin needed drying out. I was no exception. Luckily for me, when I trained in beauty, we learned the opposite. Ten years later I created my moisturizer, which was the key. It prevented and eliminated spots and made you look younger. I started inventing products when I was 24 after working a salon and saw there were so few products to that would help my clients. I had already taken a beauty course and knew how to create formulas."
She advises a skincare regimen that includes not skipping meals, avoiding dairy, sleep and be wary of weather, especially wind.
But using her signature bee venom mask is her top suggestion.
“It’s one cream that totally transforms your skin, similar to injectables such as Botox,” she says."The skin believes it’s been stung so the muscles and lines relax. The bee venom does not leave your face and puts the skin goes into survival mode. This triggers anti-aging collagens and elastin, which are the pillars that hold the answer to youth full glow. It’s a miracle cream – you don’t need to buy moisturizer or skin cream. The venom is a re-boost. It’s all the power you need.”
Also, as winter bears down on much of the U.S., protecting skin is essential … in any season, but especially during frigid weather.
“During winter’s cold weather we need more oil. In spring, the skin is similar to autumn when we go from hot to cold and our skin needs essential moisturizer to help stop eczema by clearing all the microbes, to stop the red dry look,” she says. "Summer is the easiest season to look after skin, thanks to less harsh weather and extra vitamin D. However, skin can become oily during these months, so you need hydration on top. Even the youngest of skins get little fine lines. Sun factor is a must for all."
Looking fresh these cold months is essential, but feeling warm also helps the glow. That’s why she’s introduced a new clothing line, including sweat shirts ($93.53), as well as T-shirts ($46.76), featuring Heaven’s signature logo and even beauty tips. Don’t be surprised to see these exclusive garments on Mitchell’s allegiance of celeb fans.
