'Chad' Star Nasim Pedrad Reveals Her Skincare Secrets & Tips (Which Are For Women, Not Teenage Boys) — Shop Her Must-Have Products
Though there are some obvious differences, Nasim Pedrad found it easy to relate to her character in the new comedy series Chad, where she plays a 14-year-old boy.
"The show's very personal to my life growing up as an immigrant kid," she explained to Glamour.
"I love writing about the awkwardness of adolescence, and I thought, 'How cool would it be to tell a coming-of-age story where the teenager at the center of it was played by an adult who's in on the joke?'" she shared. "Teenagers don't know what's so funny about being a teenager. They're just sort of living here."
Luckily, the comedian has moved past the acne-prone teen phase, but she says she's anything but a pro when it comes to keeping a clear complexion.
"I like to keep my skin guessing," she joked. "I tend to get bored easily, and I'm quite lazy when it comes to skin-care research, so I rely heavily on my friends that are absolutely more well-versed in it than I am to tell me what to get."
Since the actress usually has to wear a face full of makeup for any acting gig, she started using Cleansing Complex by iS Clinical as a cleanser, noting it's "powerful" but "gentle." "I use a toner if I want to really reset to a fresh, clean setting," Pedrad said of using the Herbivore Jasmine Green Tea Toner. "I find that if I've worn makeup, it helps strip away any excess makeup — like after a 14-hour-shoot day if I'm really trying to get every layer of makeup off."
She then uses a serum, followed by The Cream by Augustinus Bader moisturizer, which keeps her face makeup from getting "too cakey or too oily" throughout the day. To top off her routine, she applies a few drops of I like Herbivore's Lapis and the Restoration Oil from Oskia.
The Saturday Night Live alum also uses face masks, a retinol every other day, eye cream, a derma roller twice a week and tries to apply sunscreen every day. "To be honest, I really just do what I'm told when it comes to skincare," she admitted.
