Chris Christie calls out Donald Trump’s 2020 election claims as fiction.
“It’s Make-Believe”: Chris Christie Slams Donald Trump’s 2020 Election Claims as the President Revives Narrative
Ahead of the November mid-term elections, former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, made bold claims about Donald Trump and his repeated statements about the 2020 election. Speaking at Harvard’s Kennedy School, Christie exposed Trump by saying that the President does not actually believe the claims he keeps making.
After the 2020 election, in which Trump lost his seat, the 79-year-old had insisted that the election was “rigged,” even though there is no proof. Therefore, Christie’s latest remarks now add a new twist, raising fresh questions about what Trump truly thinks and why he continues to push this narrative.
Chris Christie Exposed Donald Trump's 2020 Lies
Chris Christie debunks Donald Trump’s 2020 election claims
Appearing at Harvard’s Kennedy School, Trump's former advisor, Chris Christie was asked whether the U.S. will have free and fair elections in November 2026. The question was asked especially after Donald Trump had previously dismissed the 2020 elections as “rigged”, after he lost his seat.
In addition, after losing in 2020, Trump even tried to change the results. He reached out to Republican officials in different states and asked them to overturn the outcome. In his desperate attempt, the 79-year-old had even asked Georgia’s secretary of state to “find” enough votes for him to win.
Later on, as his efforts failed, Trump held a rally in Washington, D.C., on January 6, which led to the deadly Capitol riot. Eventually, he was criminally charged in federal court for his actions, although the charges were later dropped after his 2024 election win. Therefore, people wondered if he might repeat history in 2026.
To which, Chris Christie strongly rejected Donald Trump’s repeated claims that the 2020 election was rigged. The former New Jersey Governor said the claims are “fiction” and “make-believe.” According to Christie, Trump himself did not believe these claims and knew he had lost the election fair and square.
“We’ve never not had them, so we will have them again,” Christie said. “The cr*p that Donald Trump put out there about the 2020 election is fiction. It’s make-believe. And by the way, I was there in 2020. He doesn’t even believe it. He didn’t believe it. He thought he lost. And he was afraid he was gonna lose all during that fall. So, it’s all a bunch of make-believe stuff.”
Trump Is Complaining In Advance About the 2026 Elections
While Chris Christie openly debunked Donald Trump's claims about the 2020 elections being rigged, it seems the President is once again back on the same track. Only this time, Trump seems to be raising similar questions about the upcoming election’s fairness, ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
Speaking on a podcast hosted by Dan Bongino, Trump said he wants to “nationalize” elections in 15 states that he called “crooked”. Although he did not name them, listeners seemed to have a clear understanding. He then claimed such a move is needed because he believes he actually won the 2020 election.
“Look, I took over a border where 25 million people came into our country, many of them murderers, 11,888 murderers, drug dealers, drug addicts all over the place. They always send their drug addicts, their people with trouble, alcoholics.” Trump said how illegal immigration affects votes.
“And by the way, if Republicans don't get them out, you will never win another election as a Republican.” He continued. “And counties I won by 2,750, think of this, to 550, 2,750 to 550. It's becoming a very good count because it's accurate… But you're never gonna have that again if you don't get these people out.”
Trump concluded, “These people were brought to our country to vote, and they vote illegally. And you know, amazing that the Republicans aren't tougher on it. The Republicans should say, ‘We wanna take over. We should take over the voting, the voting in at least many, 15 places.’ The Republicans ought to nationalize the voting.”
