Exclusive: Dixie D'Amelio Continuously 'Tries To Be Myself' On Social Media: 'I Show Every Side & Part Of Me'

It's not always easy to express yourself on the internet, but social media star Dixie D'Amelio wants her fans to know the real her — no matter what.

"I feel like on social media I continuously try to be myself," the 20-year-old exclusively tells Morning Honey while talking about her partnership with The Original Donut Shop x Dixie Red Track Suit, which is exclusively available via entering-to-win one of 25 sets on the TikTokker's holiday card Instagram giveaway. "I show every side and part of me — the good and the bad, but I feel like that is why people follow me. I also just show my true self anytime I look a mess or whatever. I just try to be myself and just know we’re all doing the same thing."

However, D'Amelio prefers not to touch upon mental health "because I already have seen times when I have gotten emotional and it’s like, 'She is emotional at everything,' and I am like, 'Well, y’all were really mean, so yeah I am going to get emotional but I just won’t show it next time.' It’s a balance — do I want to share my feelings or am I just so upset? But I just try to have fun online and show what I love and just have a good time – that is what I try to do with everything."

The Connecticut native soared to stardom in the past few years and has been able to dabble in many projects — from modeling to designing clothes to being on a reality show.

"I feel like I have done everything!" she quips. "I love doing everything. I love being really busy. I feel like I get so much more done when I am very busy. I get mad at myself because I am like, 'Oh my gosh, I say yes to everything,' but then I am like, 'Oh my gosh, I hate when I have nothing to do!' So, it’s a very weird cycle, but I am happy when I am super busy."

D'Amelio even has some advice for others who are looking to break out in the TikTok world.

"For the social media part, continue that as being a hobby," she notes. "I feel like what is hard sometimes, once you make a hobby a job, it’s hard to enjoy it as much. I don’t have like a certain amount of posts I need to post on TikTok. I could go weeks without posting or post 100 in two days, so I try to really just keep what I love doing to myself and not have anyone else have control over it. But at the same time, make a list of all of the things you want to do, make a list of all the things you love and tell everyone because you never know – someone will be like, 'Oh my gosh, my cousin's sister's neighbor works for that company and then they'll connect you, so things happen in so many different ways. Always continue putting out there what you love."

Ultimately, the TV star is shocked at how far she's come in such a short time.

"It’s very surreal," she says, adding that she enjoys working with companies she cares about, as she doesn't want to promote anything "I wouldn't like."

"I just want to be honest and show what I really love," she explains.

"I am always looking for something to take with me on the go in the mornings and I don’t have a lot of time. I love leaving at the last possible second, and this drink – I really don’t have to add anything to it," she notes of the Red Velvet Latte. "I am very into athleisure and just being as comfortable as I can when I don’t have to dress up, so I love that. I also love that I am able to give away 25 limited edition tracksuits to the people who follow me because I like having a strong connection with my followers."
