Co-Founder of Carve Designs Jennifer Hinton knows her brand stands out amongst her competitors — something she is proud of.
"Carve Designs was born out of a need to fit women’s bodies while surfing and being active. We are different because we focus on fit simultaneously to investigating how she may feel in our clothes. All women’s bodies are different and that’s important to us. There is something for everyone!" the entrepreneur exclusively tells Morning Honey.
One of the many reasons Hinton wanted to create Carve Designs was she thought there was "a lack of swim and surf apparel that fit athletic women."
As a result, Hinton and Thayer Sylvester's idea came to fruition when they were in Mexico. While lounging around, they spoke about how it was hard to find boardshorts that looked good.
From there, the company, which sells bikinis, swimsuits and rash guards for women who want to look great while being active in the water, was born.
"The Elba top is my favorite because it can be worn as a swim top and a bra. The Dylan Gauze tunic because it can be worn as a cover-up or shirt, worn open or closed as well as for sun coverage among other things! Also, the whole collection of our new compression swim is a dream!" she notes.
Though there are ups and downs along the way, Hinton wouldn't trade her job for anything. "The best part is working with so many smart and incredible people and watching the business evolve. The most challenging is weathering the changes in our current world, whether it be financial, climate related or a pandemic," Hinton says of running the business, adding that she hopes to see "lots of growth" in the next five to 10 years, in addition to becoming a household name.
"Being a woman in business is amazing. We get to rewrite the narrative," she gushes, noting that Carve Design's mission is "to share our passion for life and inspire people to feel great, have fun and find your adventure."
"Our purpose in life is really to experience joy. We believe that every person can have that through easy, effortless clothing and swim. We use soft, eco-minded fabrics that allow the wearer to feel good about their choices for their body and their conscience. We work really hard on our fit and our styles. They stand the test of time. So, when you dress well and it's easy, you feel joy in everything you do," she adds.
Ultimately, Hinton is "so proud of what we have built, as it is clothing that feels good. I'm so proud that we have created a fun, safe and supportive working environment for all our employees to be the best versions of themselves."
As for what's next, "compressive swim is our next release, and we are beyond stoked. It is sexy and athletic — what could be better?"
Hinton also would love for Carve Designs to "become more sustainable and circular with our clothing and create a fit and style guide for women to feel good and excited about choosing swim for themselves."
