Melania Trump wants teachers to utilize AI in classrooms.
"We Will All Fall Behind" Melania Trump Issues Warning to America's Teachers Amid Easter Celebrations
As Artificial Intelligence slowly becomes a part and parcel of life, First Lady Melanie Trump shares her thoughts on how AI could change the way children learn. In an op-ed for Fox News, she wrote about how AI can help teachers give more personal attention to students and make learning more interesting.
At the same time, she also warned that if students do not learn how to use AI, the country could fall behind digitally. Therefore, suggesting why schools must adapt to new technology, or risk missing out on the future, Trump highlighted how AI could democratize education in the U.S.
Melania Trump Urges Teachers To Adopt AI Advancement
Melania Trump wants teachers to embrace AI in classrooms.
After Fostering the Future Together’s two-day inaugural global coalition summit, Melania Trump has shared strong views about the role of artificial intelligence in education. Recalling the summit held in Washington, where leaders from 45 countries discussed how technology can help children learn better, Trump promoted AI utilisation.
She said that schools must start using AI now so that American children can stay ahead of the rest of the world. In addition, she also mentioned her opinion on how she believes AI can make education fair for everyone, not just for rich families. According to her, AI tools can act like personal tutors and “democratize education”.
“Each leader shared their nation’s strategy to empower its children with technology and education. Clearly, we should embrace AI now in order to ensure America’s children outpace the global community.” Trump wrote. “AI is a great equalizer and can level the educational playing field for all children.”
“AI-powered tutoring tools can give all students personalized help with difficult subjects and adjust to each child’s pace as needed.” She said, “Digital literacy is vital. If America’s children are not fluent in AI — how it works, how to use it, and how to think decisively about it — they will fall behind. We will all fall behind.”
First Lady Asserted, Teachers Won't Be Replaced With AI
Further in her op-ed, Melania Trump explained why she believes Artificial Intelligence should be accepted in education. Reflecting on how every big change in learning came from new technology, transitioning from books to computers to the internet, Trump suggested that AI is just the next step in that journey.
“Throughout history, every major leap in education has come from technology. The printing press shipped books to the masses, computers brought information into classrooms and the internet made knowledge globally accessible.” She wrote. “AI is the continuation of human knowledge’s delivery evolution and should be embraced.”
Further tackling the fears about losing jobs to AI, Melania Trump made it clear that teachers will not be replaced by AI. Instead, she asserted that AI will help teachers by giving better tools, updated information, and more time to focus on students. She said that adopting AI will make it easier for teachers.
“America’s teachers will remain the foundation of education, but can also be empowered by AI. As their roles evolve, AI will support them with up-to-date information, tools for personalized instruction, and more time to focus on critical thinking, creativity, and mentorship.” She wrote. “AI is not intended to replace teachers with humanoids.”
The First Lady also spoke about her past work on digital safety since 2017. She said that while people initially ignored these issues, today they have become serious concerns for families. Similarly, she's once again trying to educate people about AI and how to utilize it, with the hope of a better future for the nation.
“Since 2017, I have advised Americans on cyberbullying, digital security, and tech safety to protect our children and families. At the time, my ideas were wrongfully deemed trivial and inconsequential.” She said. “Do not dismiss the power of AI — open your mind to its potential and educate yourself.”
“We are not protecting our children if America limits access to AI in education. In fact, we are putting our next generation at a global disadvantage.” Trump wrote. “America’s future leadership in the world begins in our classrooms. Let’s ensure our children have every advantage to lead, succeed, and keep America superior.”
