Melania Trump Ranks Second Last in First Lady Popularity Polls — Here's How She Fared Against Hillary Clinton
In the wake of over 8 million people attending to protest policies imposed by President Donald Trump on Saturday, March 28, his wife, Melania Trump created an abysmal record in a new poll. According to the survey, the first lady has been named the second least popular in recent history.
The only person ranked lower than Melania Trump is Hillary Clinton, who is considered the most disliked, according to the list. However, while Clinton, who lost the 2016 presidential election to Trump, has remained a strong political figure, Melania has largely stayed away from the spotlight during her time in the White House.
Melania Trump Voted Second Most Unpopular First Lady
Melania Trump ranks lowest in the polls, right above Hillary Clinton.
While Donald Trump's approval rating is known to have plummeted during his second tenure, his wife, Melania Trump ranked similarly. According to a survey by YouGov, Melania Trump has been ranked as the second least popular first lady in recent history.
The poll asked 2,255 people in the United States to rate the last 11 first ladies on a scale from “Outstanding” to “Poor.” And people have shared their honest opinions on how they feel about some of the most recent first ladies.
As for Melania Trump, the results showed that 36 percent of people rated her as “poor,” while 10 percent called her “below average.” On the other hand, 18 percent said she was “outstanding,” and 12 percent rated her “above average.”
This gave the current First Lady a net approval rating of -16. Meanwhile, the only First Lady who ranked lower than Trump is Hillary Clinton. In the poll, 33 percent of people called her “poor,” and 11 percent said she was “below average,” giving her a net rating of -17.

In addition to ranking Melania Trump and Hillary Clinton as the lowest rated First Ladies in the history, the same poll also looked at which First Ladies were the most liked by the public. Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Rosalynn Carter, and Nancy Reagan came out on top.
All three of the First Ladies emerged with strong positive ratings, scoring +56, +32, and +25, respectively. Further, Michelle Obama also appeared as a clear favorite with 33 percent of people calling her “outstanding,” while 12 percent rated her “above average.”
This gave her a +21 net approval rating, even though about 22 percent rated her as “poor.” Meanwhile, the poll also compared the ratings of First Ladies with their President husbands, like Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and John F. Kennedy (+56 vs. +61), Nancy and Ronald Reagan (+25 vs. +22), Michelle and Barack Obama (+21 vs. +15).
However, Hillary Clinton was the only one who had a much lower rating than her husband, Bill Clinton, who stood at -3 rating (-17 vs. -3). Similarly, even the Trumps scored in negative, like Melania and Donald Trump (-16 vs. -20). This negative rating comes in the wake of the mid-term November elections.
