Fox News briefly paused its regular programming on Wednesday, April 15, to air a White House press briefing featuring Karoline Leavitt.

As the 28-year-old press secretary started speaking about the latest tax refunds impacting millions of Americans, it caught people's attention.

“More than 53 million filers claimed at least one of President [Donald] Trump's signature new tax cuts. The average refund this filing season is more than $3,400,” she said, adding, “What the American people must not forget is that every single Democrat in Congress voted against these tax refunds.”

Standing alongside top officials, Leavitt highlighted the benefits of new tax cuts while stating that over 53 million taxpayers have already claimed at least one of these cuts.

Karoline Leavitt speaks about Donald Trump’s new tax cuts.

While Leavitt praised Trump and his new tax cuts, her comments didn't seem to sit too well with netizens. As she said that millions of Americans received an average refund of over $3,400, her remarks stirred a strong reaction online.

A number of individuals stated on social media that they did not receive anything close to that amount.

One user wrote, “Somebody must've got my $3,400 because I didn't.”

Some raised bigger concerns, as one user commented, “A $3,400 average tax refund sounds good, but for most middle-class people, is that even enough to fill a gap in their diet?”

Another user pointed out, “Big numbers sound good, but context matters who benefited most, and what's the long-term cost? Tax cuts aren't 'free money,' and the full picture goes beyond one filing season."

In addition, many people even asked for a clear breakdown of who actually benefited the most from these tax cuts.

Some users also expressed support for Leavitt's claims.

One user wrote, “Finally, some real relief for working families! $3,400 average refund thanks to Trump's tax cuts — and every Democrat voted NO? That says it all.”

Karoline Leavitt Discusses Donald Trump's Upcoming Travel Plans

Apart from the comments on tax cuts, the press secretary also informed viewers about Trump's upcoming travel plans. She revealed that Trump will be visiting Las Vegas to promote his “No Tax on Tips” campaign.

Further, Leavitt also mentioned that the president is expected to travel to Arizona for a Turning Point USA event.

“As we have seen this tax season, President Trump's Working Families tax cuts have put a historical amount of money back into the pockets of the American people this year," she further claimed.

“On the campaign trail in 2024, President Trump looked voters in the eye and promised them he would sign the largest tax cuts in the history of our country, and, on Independence Day of last year, President Trump and congressional Republicans delivered," the 28-year-old added.

Leavitt concluded by saying, "Passing the largest tax cut in history for working and middle class Americans, including no tax on tips, overtime and social security. With Tax Day officially here, the numbers prove these tax cuts have been nothing short of extraordinary."
