Karoline Leavitt's Tax Day X post faced online scrutiny.

On Tuesday, April 14, as Leavitt took to X and wrote that manufacturers are “open for business like never before.”

She further attached an article about changes introduced by Trump under his One Big Beautiful Bill Act. However, social media users challenged the press secretary's statement.

Netizens quickly pushed back at her claims, as one user wrote, “No one who works in manufacturing saw a penny in reduced taxes this year. The numbers don’t lie. Just Trump.”

Others added that everyday costs, including those of food, gas and utilities remain considerably high, making financial management difficult.

“Trump started WWIII and NO ONE CAN AFFORD TO BUY FOOD, GAS, UTILITIES & BASIC LIFE NEEDS. Are you completely that stupid to believe you are representing a HERETICAL BLASPHEMER? This man is an abomination,” another user commented.

Many expressed their displeasure over inflation and accused the government of ignoring economic struggles of the common American.

“This tax day, the American people wanna vomit as they are forced to pay you money that they don’t have so that it can continue to be stolen, and Congress can continue to waste it," one user wrote.

However, despite public complaints regarding tax payments and government spending, recent Internal Revenue Service (IRS) data shows the average tax refund for individual filers rose to $3,561 in 2026, compared to $3,284 in 2025.

Karoline Leavitt shares a video on X promoting Donald Trump's No Tax on Tips policy.

Prior to the Tax Day post, Leavitt had faced criticism regarding a social media video featuring the president.

The video showed Trump greeting a DoorDash driver named Sharon Simmons, who delivered two large McDonald’s orders to the president.

Leavitt shared the clip on X and used it to promote Trump’s No Tax on Tips policy, saying, “Thanks to President Trump signing No Tax on Tips into law, Sharron is using the $11,000 in tips that she made last year to support her family.”

However, critics questioned the authenticity of the video. Many claimed that the video looked staged and called it a publicity stunt.

A social media user said, “How sad is this, using a working-class woman for your B- propaganda.”

“The President of the United States ordered DoorDash to the Oval Office and made the press secretary tweet about it,” another added.

“Gee, a rehearsed and recorded social media photo op. What a hero,” one user mocked. One user stated, “Whoever orchestrated this publicity stunt should be fired.”

Several netizens accused the Trump administration of focusing on social media optics rather than governing.
