The U.S. conflict with Iran under Donald Trump has led to a muted response in a recent poll of Americans. A new poll from CBS News/YouGov that was conducted between April 8 and 10 revealed alarming results about public opinion on Trump’s decision to wage a war against Iran.

According to The Daily Beast, the poll showed that many Americans say they’re tired of how the administration is operating. The poll found most Americans are uneasy about the war with 68 percent worried, 57 percent stressed, and 54 percent angry about the conflict.

The poll further revealed that only 32 felt felt either safe or confident about the war, and 29 percent felt “proud” about the decision. The poll stated that the main priorities of the war were to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and restore oil flow, ensure that the Iranian people are safe and free, and stop the nation’s nuclear programs and its threat to other countries.

However, most of the American respondents feel that progress on these goals has been limited. The poll had 57 percent of the people stating that the Strait of Hormuz has not yet been reopened, while only nine percent said that it has been opened.

Another 58 percent of the people have revealed that the U.S. has not freed Iranians, while 49 percent of the people have revealed that Iran’s nuclear program has not permanently stopped yet.

Around 55 percent of Americans revealed in the poll that the conclusion of the conflict with the current Iranian leadership being still in power would be unacceptable. Then, 59 percent of the people felt that the war was going “very or somewhat badly” for the U.S.

Over 60 percent of Americans are convinced that the president does not have a clear strategy or a plan to bring an effective solution to the war. Two-thirds said the administration has not clearly planned the objectives of the United States in the conflict.

Donald Trump threatened that an "entire civilization will die" in Iran

Apart from that, 64 percent reveal that the administration has been changing its statements repeatedly about these objectives. Respondents also revealed their views about Donald Trump’s chilling threat to Iran through his Truth Social post last week, where he warned that “a whole civilization will die tonight.”

Talking about the post, 47 percent of Americans felt that they “strongly” disliked the threatening tone of the POTUS, while 12% felt that they “somewhat” disliked it.

The overall result of the poll said that around 64 percent of Americans disapproved of the way that Trump handled the conflict with Iran, and around 61 percent disapproved of the President’s overall job rating.

The poll also asked the respondents to share the other crisis threatening to plague the nation apart from the war. Around 51 percent of Americans felt that the rising gas prices because of the war have been a crucial financial obstacle for them.

Apart from that, around 63 percent of Americans believed that the U.S. economy is in poor shape. Meanwhile, no immediate solution appears likely. This comes amid Vice President JD Vance saying that the U.S. and Iran failed to come to an agreement after 21 hours of peace talks in Islamabad, Pakistan.
