Robert Irwin reportedly turned down his meeting with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's Reported Plan to Unsettle Prince William Backfired When the Irwin Family Declined Their Invitation
Amid his desire to return to the UK, back to the Royal Family, Prince Harry took a trip to Australia, with his wife, Meghan Markle. While on the trip, the couple reportedly hoped to send a message back home in London.
According to sources, they hoped to provoke a reaction from Prince William and Princess Catherine. But unfortunately, things didn’t go as planned for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. Instead of making waves within the royal family, the move reportedly fell flat, leaving the couple in an awkward position.
Harry and Meghan Reportedly Fail to Spark Royal Jealousy
Harry and Meghan allegedly snubbed by Robert Irwin
During their trip in Australia, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle reportedly tried to arrange a meeting with Robert Irwin, son of the late crocodile hunter, Steve Irwin. According to sources, since the 22-year-old is a great friend of Prince William, they attempted to arrange the meeting as a way of drawing attention from the Prince and Princess of Wales.
However, their alleged plan to stir a reaction from Prince William and Princess Catherine didn’t go as expected. The family reportedly declined the invitation, choosing to remain loyal to the Royal Family. The family did not want to betray Robert Irwin's friendship with Prince William by meeting with the Sussexes.
A source revealed that the Irwin family’s decision wasn’t personal, but rooted in the family's longstanding loyalty to the British monarchy. The report, later cited by the Daily Mail, revealed, “They meant no ill-will towards the Sussexes, but at the end of the day they are all staunch monarchists and fiercely loyal to The Firm.”
The Sussexes Were Previously Snubbed by Jordan's Royal Family
Harry and Meghan weren't welcomed by Jordan royals
Meanwhile, this isn't the first time Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have faced rejection from renowned faces. During a February visit to Jordan focused on humanitarian work, the Sussexes met with health officials, aid partners and young people at refugee initiatives.
The couple arrived in Amman late Tuesday and quickly began a busy schedule focused on humanitarian work. During their visit, the couple attended a gathering at the British Ambassador’s residence, where representatives from the World Health Organization and embassy staff were present.
However, despite meeting higher officials, reports suggest the couple was snubbed by the Jordanian royal family, as no official meeting was arranged with King Abdullah II or other senior royals. Sources told Daily Mail, “There is no meeting scheduled between the Duke and Duchess [of Sussex] and the Jordanian Royal Family.”
One insider even added that Harry and Meghan might have been “disappointed” as they failed to meet King Abdullah II. But the Royal family of Jordan reportedly considered it a “pseudo royal visit, mimicking many of the things they or William and Kate would have done when they were part of the Firm, but it seems to be lacking in the ceremonial side of things.”
The only reported interaction that the Sussexes had was with Princess Basma Bint Talal, an aunt of the King, during a charity-related visit.
Meanwhile, King Abdullah spent the day meeting with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, with no time set aside for Harry and Meghan.
