Court filings in Prince Harry's lawsuit against a British tabloid publisher have revealed private messages he exchanged with a journalist over a decade ago.
The messages, which were allegedly flirtatious in nature, include friendly exchanges, jokes, and personal remarks.
Disclosed as part of Harry's ongoing legal case against Associated Newspapers Limited (ANL), the texts have drawn widespread attention, sparking fresh controversy related to his marriage with Meghan Markle.
‘Miss Our Movie Snuggles!’
According to The Telegraph UK, the court disclosed Harry's personal Facebook messages to Charlotte Griffiths, a reporter for the Mail on Sunday, detailing conversations between December 2011 and January 2012.
These were released as part of Harry's privacy case against ANL.
On December 4, 2011, Harry sent Griffiths a message that said, “It’s H,incase u were confused by name and picture!!! X.” Griffiths replied, calling him “Mr Mischief,” and asked him if he had reached home and managed to find his car.
A news update shared on X states that Prince Harry has sued Associated Newspapers Limited, publisher of the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday.
“What a fun weekend of naughtiness – can’t we all get up to no good in the countryside every weeked d**n it?? Smooches, CG String,” Griffiths said.
To this, Harry replied, “without doubt the best of those weekends I’ve been to,” and said he had “never laughed so much in 24hrs!!”
Harry then asked her how he managed to earn the title of “Mr mischief” and said he was certain that he was no worse than everyone else.
Responding to this, Griffiths said that she meant it as a “compliment.”
“We all competitively out-naughtied each other, which is why we all had so much fun,” she added, according to RadarOnline.
Their conversation reportedly continued over the following days.
Griffiths called him a “b****y maverick” and asked him about his “Thirsty Thursday” plans.
Harry replied that he would be hungover for a third day and added that she “missed a good party.” He concluded the message with a “Mwah.”
After a month, Griffiths told Harry that it was the latter who had missed a good party this time.
He replied, “I WISH I was there sugar but unfortunately stuck in Cornwall doing Army stuff :( Otherwise I would have been there playing and then drinking u under the table, obvi!!”
“Just wish I could have been there ... especially now that you’re there! Dou ever work?!!.... Hope you’re really well Griff... Miss our movie snuggles!! I’m off comms all week incase u think I’m being rude, keep me posted..,” Harry wrote.
Prince Harry Is 'Defending Himself Passionately' in the Trial
According to RadarOnline, an unnamed source said that the messages have affected Harry's marriage to Markle, calling it an “extremely embarrassing situation.”
The source claimed that the exchange being revealed in court is a “total nightmare” as it affects Harry’s public image.
The insider further said that Markle was taken aback when she heard about Griffiths and “wants to know the full story and the precise nature of their relationship.” Harry is “defending himself passionately” in the trial, the source added.
Although the source acknowledged the playful nature of the messages, they claimed that it was a “bit of friendly fun and that there's no need to read between the lines or associate his [Harry's] behavior back then with who he is today.”
The insider also stated that the incident puts more pressure on the relationship between Harry and Markle.
