Prince William Sees Harry as 'Completely Untrustworthy' as He Shuts Down Reconciliation Efforts

Tensions between Prince Harry and Prince William remain unresolved, with recent reports indicating that efforts by Harry to reestablish contact have not been reciprocated.

According to royal commentators, communication between the brothers has largely ceased, with some tracing the breakdown to the period following the 2022 funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, reports the Fox News. Since then, attempts at outreach by Harry have reportedly been met with a “wall of silence.”

Observers describe William’s approach as deliberate and measured. Broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard said he is “ignoring the circus,” describing his silence as a “permanent royal reset” rather than avoidance. Royal analyst Richard Fitzwilliams said William views his brother as “totally untrustworthy,” reflecting lingering concerns over loyalty.

The divide has deepened over several years, particularly after Harry and Meghan Markle stepped back from royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California. In subsequent interviews, documentaries and Harry’s memoir, Spare, the couple publicly discussed internal royal matters, including personal details about family relationships.

Commentators say those disclosures contributed to William’s current stance. Roya Nikkhah, royal editor at The Sunday Times, noted that William tends to remember where individuals align during periods of conflict. “If someone picks the other side, he remembers that,” she said.

Despite the strain, King Charles III is said to favor reconciliation. Reports suggest he has renewed communication with Harry and hopes to rebuild ties, including spending time with his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. However, sources indicate that William is resistant. He is maintaining a firm position regardless of his father’s wishes.

Royal editor Russell Myers said the conflict may also stem from longstanding structural differences between the brothers’ roles. “There’s the issue of the heir and the spare,” he said, referring to William’s position as future king and Harry’s less certain role.

The relationship is also believed to have come under strain earlier, during Harry’s relationship with Meghan. William reportedly advised caution at the time, urging his brother to move slowly. However, Harry reportedly viewed the advice as skepticism.

Kate Middleton has been described as a moderating presence in past disputes. According to Myers, she made repeated efforts to ease tensions and encourage dialogue between the brothers. “Catherine did not want the brothers to finish their relationship,” he said, adding that she urged them to “think about what you want for the future.”

Some within royal circles view William’s stance as firm leadership focused on protecting the institution. Chard said he is “fearless and has a strong moral character,” adding that “loyalty cuts both ways” and that “betrayal has a long shelf life.” In an interview with Daily Mail, Princess Diana's former trainer Jenni Rivett had said that she would be 'heartbroken' by her sons' rift.

While some observers leave open the possibility of reconciliation, current indications point to a continued impasse, with both sides maintaining distance amid unresolved grievances.
