Pete Davidson Revives Kanye Feud During Netflix Roast
Pete Davidson turned Netflix’s Roast of Kevin Hart into one of the weekend’s most talked-about comedy events after re-igniting his feud with Kanye West while delivering some jokes that left some of the audience groaning.
The former Saturday Night Live comedian targeted fellow comic Tony Hinchcliffe throughout the evening, but the jokes then became shocking when he referenced activist Charlie Kirk and West’s antisemitism remarks. And Davidson once again proved that to him, there are no holy cows.
Pete Davidson’s Charlie Kirk Joke Draws Groans
Pete Davidson's Charlie Kirk joke left audience members groaning.
Davidson started by taking aim at Hinchcliffe. “Tony Hinchcliffe’s here looking like both a child molester and the doll they give the child to show where he touched them,” Davidson joked during the special.
The comedian then followed it with a joke about Charlie Kirk, who was fatally shot in 2025. “Tony reminds me of Charlie Kirk, in that he’s definitely been on camera letting a guy unload in his throat,” Davidson said, drawing groans the audience.
Moments later, Davidson referenced Hinchcliffe’s podcast title directly.
“Oh, you don’t know me? Yeah. Yeah. Kill Tony! Please. Someone f—king kill Tony!” he said.
Davidson is well known for his particular brand of comedy which is provocative and doesn't hold anything back. His jokes soon became some of the most discussed moments from the three-hour event as many debated how far roast comedy should go.
Davidson Reopens Public Kanye West Feud
Pete Davidson also targeted Kanye during Kevin Hart roast.
The new father is also apparently not one to let sleeping dogs lie. He revived his feud with Kanye West which began when he and Kim Kardashian dated after she split from the rapper.
“Tony, nothing you say tonight will hurt my feelings,” Davidson said. “I was in a beef with Kanye, so I’ve taken shots from better gay N-z-s.”
Davidson was referring to West's antisemitic comments and public praise of Adolf Hitler that damages his public image and some of his business relationships.
Kanye also spent months attacking Davidson when he was seeing Kardashian, and posted insults online. He even featured a claymation version of Davidson buried alive in the music video for "Eazy."
Ye has taken a step back this year and distanced himself from his past statements, even going as far as taking out a full-page apology advertisement in The Wall Street Journal.
“I regret and am deeply mortified by my actions in that state, and am committed to accountability, treatment, and meaningful change,” West stated.
Netflix Roasts Highlights Streaming's Different Rules
Davidson's roast also underscored the blurry line between edgy streaming comedy and the standards set by traditional broadcast networks.
Unlike network television, Netflix is not restricted by the FCC, allowing more bold and controversial roasts and comedy specials.
Last year, when Jimmy Kimmel made news when with some comments about Kirk's death, the show was paused. But, these limitations do not apply to streaming services.
Davidson closed his set on a softer note and addressed Hart directly.
“I love you very much. You’ve always been super nice to me,” he said. “You’re a very hardworking person, and when it’s all said and done, in the comedy world, it’s most important to be remembered.”
