Melania Reached for Trump After He Did the Dance She Hates

President Donald Trump once again broke into his now-famous campaign dance during a public White House event this week — but it was Melania Trump who ended up drawing much of the attention online.

The First Lady had a visible reaction as she stood beside her husband as he rocked his signature moves. And in the clips shared online, Melania appeared to reach toward Trump after he finished his dance. But, he didn't seem to notice and the two continued their conversation.

Trump pulled out his moves during the annual White House Congressional Picnic, where he and Melania welcomed the lawmakers, members of the cabinet, and their families to the South Lawn. Military bands pumped out music and guests gathered to relax and enjoy the event.

In the clip, Melania was still saying something to her husband when his attention had been caught elsewhere. All of sudden, he began performing his familiar dance move that that has now become part of most of his rallies and public appearances, especially to the tune of "Y.M.C.A." by the Village People

The president swayed side to side, and pumped his fists in rhythm before clapping and saying "Thank you," and pointing to someone else and saying "Good job!" She appeared to reach out for him but he was already moving on.

Part of the reason Trump's dance moves drew so much attention was because he has previously admitted that Melania is not a fan of the dance.

Speaking earlier this year, Trump joked after performing the move. “My wife hates when I do this,” he stated.

He then added, “She’s a very classy person, right? She said, ‘It’s so unpresidential.’ I said, ‘But I did become president.’”

His previous comment was remembered by netizens after the clip was released.

One X user wrote, “Melania reaching to stop him is growing on me as part of the dance that is also endearing.”

Another joked, “lol do you think Melania is telling him no dancing.”

"She is clearly having a serious conversation with him but he must dance," a third person quipped.

Internet users bought into their dynamic and it seemed to drive the conversation about the Melania and Donald Trump's connection even when the one isn't completely into what the other does.

The Congressional Picnic is traditionally an event when lawmakers from both the Republican and Democratic parties come together with their families to spend time during spring.

This year, the event included performances from the United States Marine Band and the Navy Cruisers band, and Trumps stood in the crowd as they too enjoyed the music.

In his speech, the president talked about, among other things, his construction plans for the new White House ballroom.

Melania promoted the Fostering the Future Act which is an initiative focused on reshaping the child welfare system, as well as supporting those children who are aging out of foster care so that they can be more secure.

And even though Trump and Melania wanted to focus on their important issues, netizens couldn't help but enjoy the lighter side of the event.

Trump supporters loved Trump's humor and personality, while critics questioned whether it was appropriate at an official White House event. Others simply focused on the couple's body language and how she had reached for him.

And that dance, whether it's awkward, funny, or charming, is simply impossible to ignore.
