After Ashley French’s viral “toxic mom friends group” essay sparked widespread conversation, Meghan Trainor weighed in on the controversy.

Given how the singer was mentioned in the essay, she took to TikTok, sharing a humorous video regarding the same.

Rather than slamming French for her essay or addressing the controversy directly, Trainor chose to create a sarcastic video.

Previously, the singer had addressed the essay during an interview with Us Weekly, where she claimed to be genuinely confused to learn about the situation.

Meghan Trainor’s TikTok video shared in a post on X.

Back in January, Trainor shared the humorous TikTok video, which started with the singer typing something on a computer before acting surprised.

That's when a text appeared on the screen reading, “Me finding out about the apparent mom group drama.”

The clip featured a soundtrack from her single Still Don’t Care from her album Toy with Me, which was released on April 24.

Further, keeping the tone cheeky in the caption, Trainor used teacup emojis with the hashtag #stilldontcare.

The whole situation began after French shared a widely discussed essay with The Cut about her experience in a celebrity mom friend group.

French said she was initially happy to find women going through motherhood at the same time and felt like she had “found my village.”

“What I remember most from those early days was how impressed I was by those women and all of the amazing things they had going on,” French wrote.

She added, “By the time we started getting together for playdates and got the group chat going, I was certain that I’d found my village.”

However, she said that she later felt pushed away from the group. French claimed she received fewer invitations and was even excluded from a gathering held during her daughter’s birthday celebration.

She said the experience made her feel she wasn’t “cool enough” to fit in.

“When everyone else attended a birthday dinner together, I was met with excuses as to why I hadn’t been invited. I still don’t get why I wasn’t at the girl hang that they all planned at my daughter’s birthday,” she wrote.

“Here I was sitting alone one night after getting my daughter to bed, thinking, Maybe I’m not cool enough?” French added.

Eventually, she left the group and spoke about it in her essay.

Although she never mentioned anyone's names, fans made a list of alleged celebrity mothers they believed were toxic. Therein, Hilary Duff, Mandy Moore, Meghan Trainor, and others’ names popped up.

An X post sharing Meghan Trainor's TikTok video about allegedly being part of the “toxic mom group.”

Meanwhile, before making the TikTok video, Trainor opened up about the rumored “toxic” celebrity mom group drama during an interview with Us Weekly.

She admitted that while she was dragged into the chaos, she never felt personally hurt by the situation.

Claiming to be a part of one such mom group, Trainor mentioned that she herself drifted apart and rarely got active in the group.

“I was a bad mom friend. I never went. They had so many events; they were awesome and always there for each other,” she confessed.

“There was a group chat, but eventually they started a group chat without me because I wasn’t there… and that was totally fine. I didn’t feel bad,” she continued.

Trainor went on, “And then that [story] popped up, and I was like, 'What?!?’ I saw my face everywhere, and wait a second, I’m not even there.”

The singer then mentioned speaking personally with French after the story went viral.

“Ashley texted me, 'I’m sorry, your name got dragged in.' And I was like, 'It's all right, girl. The world's a silly, crazy place, and they just want something to talk about,’” Trainor stated.

She added, “I felt bad for Ashley, that she was ever that sad. I think it was just a lot of miscommunication and confusion. I don’t really know what happened, but I wish them all the best.”

In the end, Trainor noted that despite the controversy she mainly “felt bad” for French.
