"Surprise! Summer is right around the corner, and I decided to switch up my look 💁🏼‍♀️ What do you think?!" she captioned an Instagram post. "HUGE thank you to everyone who followed along on my hair transformation today and helped me choose the perfect Garnier Nutrisse shade in Dark Blonde 70 Almond Crème. It’s so much fun to be blonde again, and I’m completely in love with my new hair already."

"I've been longing for some much needed change," the natural blonde explained to PEOPLE of the switch. "It really felt like now was the perfect time to do something different, with the world seemingly opening back up again ... normal feels like it's really right around the corner."

Fans of the This Is Us star couldn't help but freak out over the stunning style, with some likening it to the old 'do she had when she was at the height of her popularity as a pop music singer. Others thought it was reminiscent of her role in The Princess Diaries.

"Yes girl," Ashley Tisdale commented on her post, while singer Marren Morris declared, "You can do anything. 🔥."

Even more impressive than her beauty is the fact that Moore did the dyeing process herself!

She explained that she used the "virtual shade selector on Garnier's website" to look at all the different hues when she settled on this one. "I was starting with a bit of a darker base this go around, so I was careful not to go too light because I didn't want it to turn brassy," she noted. "That was a big concern for me."

The change comes shortly after she attended the MTV Movie & TV Awards, which marked her first red carpet event since she and husband Taylor Goldsmith welcomed their son, August "Gus," in February.

"Being out in the world for a brief moment was lovely," she admitted after the show wrapped up. "Ready to crawl back in my bubble though."
