Reports state this happened due to a potential bomb threat, which triggered the security response. The flight was halted and the plane returned to the gate, and the passengers were also evacuated as a safety measure.

According to FlightRadar24 data, the aircraft never left the airport as it was expected. An update posted on X noted, "This is the second threat against a United flight in as many days." "My husband is on United 2408 from Denver to Dulles and they were supposed to take off at 5:59 pm. They have not returned to the gate because of a 'unique situation.' They are being told they cannot access the overhead bins and everyone," the user wrote. Sharing more updates, they added, "Has to get off to be re-screened on the tarmac. They can go to the bathroom one at a time. They cannot return to the gate until re-screened."

According to WeReporter, a potential bomb threat was the reason behind the extended delay. Photos posted on social media showed emergency vehicles moving along the runway. The incident follows a separate scare involving United Airlines flight, UAL2092, flying from Chicago to New York, was diverted to Pittsburgh following a bomb threat.

The Citizens App reported, "United Airlines flight UA2092 was diverted to Pittsburgh International Airport after a bomb threat was reported onboard shortly after departing Chicago O'Hare. The flight, which was headed to New York City, was redirected as a precaution. Authorities are handling the situation."

In their statement, they said, "Prior to departure, United flight 2408 from Denver to Washington Dulles deplaned safely via airstairs due to a security concern. The aircraft was screened and cleared, and passengers are back at the gate where we have provided them with food and water. We will be getting them on their way to Dulles shortly."

Flight 2092, which left Chicago's O'Hare Airport, was redirected to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Saturday morning. A bomb squad was waiting at Pittsburgh International Airport when the Boeing 737 landed, according to a statement shared by the Allegheny County Police Department.
