An update on Solange Tremblay, who suffered critical injuries during the LaGuardia crash.

On March 22, 2026, an Air Canada Express crashed into a fire truck on the tarmac at LaGuardia, killing its two pilots, as per The Independent. Solange Tremblay, the flight attendant, was ejected from the wreckage. Though she was still strapped to her seat, she took a devastating fall of 320 feet from the plane.

She suffered several injuries, including broken legs and a fractured spine. Sarah Lepine, her daughter, started a fundraiser on GoFundMe, and shared a update on the injuries her mother sustained from the collision. In the note, she stated that when her mother was found, she was still strapped in her jump seat, lying on the tarmac.

Lepine stated that during the time of recovery, her mother was conscious and had sustained severe injuries. Her injuries included “two shattered legs (open fractures) requiring multiple surgeries where metal plates are needed to repair the damage done to her legs. She sustained a fractured spine where she continues to wait and see if surgery is required.”

She continued that Tremblay also required skin grafts to repair the missing flesh she lost on her legs when she was sliding down the tarmac. Additionally, she had received a blood transfusion due to complications from her first surgery. Lepine noted that this does not end her mother’s struggles, adding, "She will have to undergo several other surgeries, along with intensive rehabilitation to learn how to walk again."

The note read, “At the moment our greatest fear is the risk of infection which could lead to other horrifying complications if her injuries become infected.” She added, “My mother dedicated her entire life as a flight attendant, and was very proud of her work. She loved serving the public and helping them travel safely from their respective destinations.”

She urged the people to help by donating what they can, as Solange Tremblay remains in “constant fear of sustaining further damages than she has already suffered.”

Authorities Blame Air Traffic Control Miscommunications for the Collision

According to a report by the New York Post, Kathryn Garcia, the Head of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, blamed the air traffic control miscommunication for the crash. She said, “At this point we’re going to wait for the [National Transportation Safety Board] to give us some guidance on what occurred and if there’s anything that needs to be changed.”

She further complained that she could not speculate about the infrastructure issues that played an active role in causing the tragedy. She believed that the Federal Aviation Administration has strong regulatory authority over the airport, including the runway size, lights, and signs.
