Donald Trump slammed after he calls for cancellation of Freedom 250 event.
Trump Branded a ‘Pathetic Loser’ After Artists Abandon Politicized Freedom 250 Concert
When Donald Trump first announced his Freedom 250 event in Washington, D.C., several renowned musical acts, including Martina McBride, Morris Day, Young MC, and more, were named to perform.
However, the majority of them gradually turned down the offer, prompting the president to consider calling off the event.
With uncertainty around the Freedom 250 event, netizens ridiculed the situation.
Taking to X, many called out the president for cancelling the concert and “making it a huge rally instead.” They also accused Trump of “saying anything to deflect his failure in another direction".
'We Should Have a Giant Make America Great Again Rally'
Donald Trump calls for cancellation of Freedom 250.
On Saturday, May 30, taking to his Truth Social, Donald Trump urged organizers to cancel the concert planned for America’s 250th birthday celebration. He criticised the planned Great American State Fair on the National Mall, citing the withdrawal of several artists.
In the post, the President also proposed replacing the concert with a large political rally.
He suggested that the country should mark the milestone year with “a giant MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY” rather than wasting money on “overpriced singers” whose music people do not want to hear.
“We should have a giant MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN RALLY for 250 instead of having overpriced singers, who nobody wants to hear, whose music is boring, and yet who do nothing but complain," Trump wrote.
“Cancel it, just like I canceled my involvement with the failing and unsafe to be in Kennedy Center."
Linking the issue to his recent criticism of the Kennedy Center, the president said he would like to cancel the concert as he was no longer involved with the national cultural institution due to a federal judge’s ruling.
Overall, Trump's comments come as organizers deal with artist withdrawals.
Several Artists Drop Out of the Concert
Several artists withdrew from performing at the June 25 Great American State Fair celebration for America’s 250th anniversary.
According to reports, most artists initially agreed to join the event because they believed it would remain non-partisan, simply celebrating the country's independence.
However, they learned that the event was Trump-backed, and most of them dropped out.
Country singer Martina McBride said she “was assured this was a non-partisan event that was meant to celebrate ALL 50 states". But upon learning the reality, she decided to drop out.
Rapper Young MC also announced his withdrawal, citing similar reasons.
“The artists were never told about any political involvement with the event.” Young MC wrote on Facebook. “And despite the claims by the organizers that the event is non-partisan, SPIN magazine describes it as 'Trump-backed'." He continued, “I hope to perform in D.C. in the near future at an event that is not so politically charged.”
In response, Trump criticized the artists on Truth Social, calling them “Third Rate ‘Artists’” and saying he would instead deliver a “major speech” at the event.
Following the developments, social media users reacted strongly, with many mocking the situation.
"He should have gone with stalwarts like Kid Rock and Ted Nugent. He might have even been able to get Clint Eastwood to talk to a chair," one user wrote.
Another added, "As much as I would want this to happen (the cancellation), I can’t believe that there is NO ONE that would perform for that clown fool."
One quipped, "And he's making it a huge rally instead. Featuring Vanilla Ice because he doesn't care where he 'performs' as long as he can perform."
Am individual noted, "Where are Kid Rock, Nikki Minaj, Carrie Underwood, and Kanye when Donny needs them!!"
"He will blame the democrats. He will blame Joe Biden. He will say anything to deflect his failure in another direction. He is a pathetic loser,” added another.
