“She Was Extremely Jealous”: Nelly Korda Reveals What Happened During $2.5M Win

Nelly Korda may have dominated the golf course, but the spotlight was humorously stolen by her caddie's wife, Caroline Masson, another LPGA pro.

Turns out, while Korda was securing her dominating streak, her caddie, Jason McDede, had been sharing fun hotel videos from the tour, capturing moments from their travels.

And those videos turned into a point of tension back home. Jason McDede’s wife, watching from afar, didn’t quite enjoy the clips as much as he did.

According to Korda, McDede's wife was jealous of the videos, as she hilariously addressed the situation during her press conference.

After winning the Riviera Maya Open at Mayakoba on Sunday for her 18th LPGA Tour title, Nelly Korda recounted a lighthearted story during her press conference.

Speaking with the media, the golfer reflected on how every LPGA win of her career has had the same man on the bag: Jason McDede.

But while he had been helping her win with strategic advice and assisting with course maintenance, McDede had also been enjoying the amenities in Mexico.

Korda revealed her caddie had been clearly taken with the resort, the atmosphere, and the Rosewood hotel they were staying in.

“He loved everything. I mean, he loved the vibe of the place. He loved the hotel that we were staying at. We were staying at Rosewood, so he was just loving the whole vibe of it.” Korda shared.

Meanwhile, since McDede’s wife wasn't present at the location with him, he started sharing videos back home.

“His wife was not here this week, and he was sending her videos, and she was extremely jealous. So she was really hoping that we were going to play well this week, so we could come back next year. I’m sure her wish has come true,” Nelly Korda explained.

Nelly Korda’s long-time caddie Jason McDede is engaged to Caroline Masson, who has even played out on the golf course.

Masson, an LPGA pro herself, has competed in the same events as Korda. Back in November 2019 at the Taiwan Swinging Skirts LPGA, Korda and Masson even faced off in a playoff.

And while they were competing with each other, McDede was serving as Korda’s caddie, carrying her bag.

Meanwhile, Korda went on to win on the first playoff hole with a birdie and later told Golf Channel, “Jason is engaged to Caroline, but at the end of the day, he is on my team, and I am the one signing his paycheck.”

Masson took it all in good spirit and even claimed to be proud of how her husband's assistance helped Korda win.

“It was a little funny. I’m quite happy to see them win. I’m proud of them and proud of the two of them, the way they work together, and, hopefully, I get another chance to beat them down the stretch the next few years,” she said.

Later, even Korda noted, “Caroline is a great person, and she played amazing golf today. You know, it was kind of difficult for him because I guess he can be happy… but I wouldn’t be where I am without Jason. He made sure that he kept me in the game.”
