‘She Isn’t Capable of Empathy’: Meghan Markle Brutally Trolled For ‘Faking’ Her Tears While Meeting Survivors of Bondi Beach Shooting

Meghan Markle's trip to Australia with Prince Harry garnered media scrutiny and attention for more than one reason. While their trip was criticized by people who alleged that it was funded by taxpayers' money, Meghan's reported 'fake' tears while meeting survivors of the Bondi Beach Hanukkah shooting triggered a wave of online trolling.

As reported by She Finds, Meghan Markle was accused of faking her tears while hearing Jessica Chapnik Kahn recount how she protected her young daughter during the gunfire at the Hanukkah event. While listening to the harrowing incident of Chapnik Kahn, who lost her daughter Shemi, Markle hugged her. Her daughter was a year older than Markle's daughter Lilibet.

Harry and Meghan also talked with first responders from the Bondi Surf Bathers’ Life Saving Club; Elon Zizer, who was shot six times during the assault; and representatives from the Sydney Jewish Museum, which is preparing to launch an exhibit on the shooting and its consequences.

Social media users were quick to notice and believed that Markle was trying to force tears while listening to the stories of the people. Eagle-eyed fans noticed in the viral video that the Suits actress blinked frequently and tried to bring tears to her eyes. The netizens also said that she brushed a hand over her face, erasing tears that didn't exist.

Reacting, one user wrote, "The over blinking was added for special effect". Another pointed out, "The fake Duchess has zero shame." A section of people called Markle 'soulless' and 'self-obsessed'. "The eyes batting like an automatic rifle," wrote one and another stressed, "That poor woman opening herself up to that viper."

Continuing their criticism of Meghan, one more netizen said, "It's criminal to waste your breath speaking at Meghan Markle. "She isn't capable of empathy or even sympathy. She's the single most self obsessed person I've ever seen", added another.

In December 2025, Meghan's half-sister, Samantha, launched an attack on her and called her fake in a X post, as reported by Daily Express US. It all began when Meghan’s team released a statement stressing that the Duchess of Sussex had contacted her father, Thomas Markle, who is recovering after several surgeries in the Philippines.

However, things took a sharp turn when the Markle family denied the claims and said that Thomas did not receive any message from Meghan. Reacting to the misleading reports of her team, Samantha attacked Meghan via an AI video, which showed her flying on a broomstick while holding a sign that said “fake as ever,” hinting at her lifestyle brand As Ever.

In the caption, Samantha wrote, "Sources report seeing my sister in the area of the hospital Dad is in. Could she be living up to all of that paid PR?". Taking a dig at Meghan for helping with their dad's rehabilitation, Samantha added, "If she is smart and at all humane, she will find a way to help Dad in his rehabilitation, especially since, reportedly, one of the companies she and Harry donated to manufactures prosthetics." She continued, "Recovery will be a long road. It would be good for her, and it would be good for Dad. You can lead a horse to water..."
