Meghan Markle Reportedly Cut Off Camera Mid-Call as Netflix Feedback “Didn’t Sit Well”
Every celebrity has their own way of dealing with negativity, criticism, and Hollywood giants like Netflix. And Meghan Markle is no exception. Following a recent podcast, Variety reporter Matt Donnelly has added a surprising twist to Markle’s behind-the-scenes work style.
He confided that the Duchess had a very unique way of expressing her displeasure during virtual meetings with Netflix. According to Donnelly, Markle would simply turn off her webcam whenever offended. Apparently, that was her subtle yet powerful move during meetings.
Meghan Markle’s Silent Zoom Power Move
Meghan Markle's weird feedback habit exposed by insider.
Recently appearing on The Royalist podcast, Variety reporter Matt Donnelly revealed an unusual detail about how Meghan Markle handled some of her work meetings. He said that the Duchess had a subtle way of showing when she was not happy.
“Multiple sources told me that, when Meghan would sit, especially in meetings regarding her brand As Ever, her lifestyle and homewares range, when she heard feedback she didn't like, or heard ideas that she didn't think were appropriate, she would turn her Zoom camera off to express her displeasure,” Donnelly revealed.
According to him, Markle would sometimes switch off her camera during Zoom calls, especially when discussions about her brand As Ever did not go the way she liked. Donnelly mentioned that she would quietly “disappear” from the screen, over ideas she disagreed with.
Donnelly joked, “It's certainly an interesting way to provide feedback in Hollywood.” So it seems, instead of arguing or interrupting, this simple action became her way of expressing discomfort. However, the Duchess' lawyer argued otherwise.
The Duchess’ Lawyer Justified Her Abrupt Departures
After Matt Donnelly exposed Meghan Markle with his remarks, her lawyer Michael J. Kump dismissed the reports, and offered some justification for her odd behavior. Speaking with OK Magazine, Kump explained the reasons for her abrupt departures from meetings.
“[Meghan Markle] works from home, is the mother of young children aged 4 and 6, and often encounters children who enter the space unexpectedly during a meeting,” he said. “Independent of being a parent who works from home, Meghan is also conscious of shielding her team from the distraction of children,”
Kump further added, “Nearly all professionals can attest to needing to turn off the audio or camera during a virtual meeting at some point during many hours of virtual business calls.” So, he tried to justify that what seemed like a dramatic “disappearing act” was just a working mom trying to balance her career and family life.
According to her lawyer, turning off the camera mid-conversation was not about attitude but about maintaining professionalism and avoiding distractions for others on the call. He added that people who work virtually understand the need to briefly step away or switch off audio and video during long meetings.
