After eight long years away from the spotlight, Meghan Markle is finally coming back. The Duchess of Sussex, who stepped away from acting in 2017 after her relationship with Prince Harry became public, is now returning to her Hollywood roots. According to her team, she is making her comeback with a new comedy-drama titled Close Personal Friends.

Before her royal life, Markle was best known for playing Rachel Zane in the hit legal drama Suits, along with roles in films like Horrible Bosses and Get Him to the Greek. Meanwhile, as insiders told People that she was “very relaxed and happy” to return to set, one of her co-stars recently shared his work experience with Markle.

After fans last saw her in Suits in April 2025, where her character was shown leaving to start a legal clinic alongside her husband, Markle is now returning onscreen with her upcoming comedy movie.

Although she launched her lifestyle brand As Ever and also appeared in the Netflix series With Love, Meghan, people are yet to see her make a full-fledged return. Now the wait seems to be over, as her team confirmed that Markle will make a cameo appearance in Close Personal Friends.

She was spotted filming in Pasadena, California, in November 2025, when sources told People that “she introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and down-to-earth.” Another source confided in The Sun that it's a “massive moment” for Markle.

“This is a massive moment for Meghan and signifies a return to doing what she truly loves. She has been swamped with offers but this one felt right,” sources noted. “It is Meghan’s way of gently putting her toe back in the water and seeing how she enjoys being back on set.”

Insiders also added, “Everyone involved is super-excited, and have been sworn to secrecy about her involvement.” Further addressing Harry, sources noted, “Prince Harry is, of course, really supportive and quite simply wants Meghan to do whatever brings her joy.”

Jack Quaid Says Working With Markle Was ‘Insane’

Meanwhile, although insiders have been full of praise for Markle, one co-star’s reaction to working with her seemed rather underwhelming. As the cast only got permission to talk about the film this week, Jack Quaid opened up about working with Markle in an interview with ET.

Keeping things short and simple, he simply called the experience “insane.” He quickly shifted focus to the rest of the star-studded cast, including Brie Larson, Henry Golding and Lily Collins. Quaid claimed “it was insane,” working with Markle.

“The main cast of it is myself, Brie Larson, Henry Golding and Lily Collins, which is just an incredible group of people to be a part of,” Quaid stated. "Every day we went to set, and we just tried our best to make each other laugh,” he added.

The upcoming film Close Personal Friends tells the story of two couples who become close during a trip to Santa Barbara. “I thought it was going to be more of a rom-com – I’m calling it a com-rom," Quaid claimed.

"I think it’s more comedy-forward, slightly. But it's about two couples. I don’t know if I can say anything else, but I just had a blast making that movie,” he added. While Quaid claimed to have had a blast making the movie, he kept it short while speaking about Markle.
