In the most recent episode of the Today show, Kotb shared a preview of Savannah's heartfelt conversation about Nancy. Kotb played the clip, featuring the 54‑year‑old speaking to her about the case that has left investigators perplexed.
In the clip, Savannah was in tears and said, “Someone needs to do the right thing.” She continued talking about the current condition of her family, repeatedly saying that they are in “agony” and that the situation is "unbearable" for them. The TV personality added that since her mother’s disappearance, she keeps waking up in the middle of the night, wondering what her mother is currently going through.
Savannah added, “In the darkness, I imagine her terror. And it is unthinkable, but those thoughts demand to be thought.” She urged that her mother needs to return to them now, ending the clip. Kotb was left in tears, describing her current situation as “desperate” and noticing a sense of “steeliness.”
Kotb continued praising her resilience as Savannah bravely sat through the personal conversation, despite fighting an uphill battle. While she discusses her mother’s disappearance, her co-workers have called this event a “tortured limbo.”
'I’m Just So Sorry'
The first part of Savannah's interview has been aired on the show. She opened up about her family’s ordeal after Nancy was kidnapped. The conversation began with them learning about their mother’s disappearance, and she and her siblings tried to find answers behind Savannah's vanishing.
Savannah confessed that at one point she believed her fame might have motivated the suspect to target her mother. She recalled a conversation with her brother, in which he suggested that if her mother was kidnapped for ransom, the family would have heard from the captors by now.
Savannah hoped that ransom was not the primary motive behind her mother’s kidnapping. She stated that the more she thought about it, the more it started to make sense. The TV host then wondered whether her fame could have led the suspect to target her mother.
Blaming her fame for a possible motive behind her mother's abduction, she repeatedly apologized, “I’m just so sorry. I’m so sorry. If it is me, I’m so sorry.” The police are still trying to find a breakthrough in the case that will help them find the whereabouts of the 84-year-old.
