Fifty two days after Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, a neighbor of hers has come forward detailing two unusual incidents related to the case. The neighbor mentioned two dates, which might prove to be useful for the investigators.
The neighbor hoped that the information he provided turns out to be of some value as the law enforcement still struggles to find the whereabouts of the 84-year-old.
What Nancy’s Neighbor Has Revealed
An X post highlighting the statement of Nancy Guthrie's neighbor.
Appearing as a guest in a recent episode of Crime Stories with Nancy Grace, Nancy’s neighbor Jeff Laime delved into the unusual incidents that preceded the 84-year-old’s kidnapping. Laime mentioned that his dogs had woken him up on two separate occasions on January 11 and in the early morning hours of February 1.
Laime stated that the late-night activity stood out to him because it was unusual for his dogs to act like that. He mentioned that on the date of Nancy’s disappearance, his dogs had woken him up after 1 a.m. However, during that time, he did not hear or see anything suspicious. However, he did notice that one of his dogs was trying to look outside.
Laime claimed that his dogs waking him up in that odd hour was “atypical,” adding that the canines had not woken him up again around that hour. The neighbor said that his dogs seemed roused, so he decided to take them out.
Speaking about the incident, Laime said, “But you know, animals can be, especially dogs can be hypersensitive, and we don’t know if there’s a correlation.” He mentioned that he had shared the information with the law authorities so that it could be of some use to them for the case.
Notably, the date January 11 also came up as part of a statement given by Nancy’s family to law enforcement authorities.
Investigator Clears the Air Around Dates
While the January 11 date keeps resurfacing, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos clarified available information regarding the dates. According to Kold, Nanos revealed during a press conference that without timestamps on the video footage, the police cannot pinpoint the abductor.
Nanos said that without the date and timestamp of the key date, they can’t confirm whether the ski mask-wearing individual was present inside the 84-year-old’s house on the evening of January 11. He clarified that the footage of the suspect was from the night of the alleged kidnapping.
Former FBI Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer shares her views on the Nancy Guthrie case in a post on X.
Nanos stated, “We do believe that something occurred on January 11 and that’s with the FBI’s analysis of the equipment and digital stuff they’ve done.” However, the Pima County sheriff stressed that without the timestamp, everything remains speculative.
While nothing seems concrete as of now, Nanos mentioned that he believes that they have good evidence in front of them. However, he does not want to sound too optimistic, claiming that “anything is possible.”
