Despite being dismissed as secretary of homeland security by President Donald Trump on March 5, 2026, Kristi Noem continues to occupy a waterfront residence on a Washington, D.C. military base where she moved after becoming a Cabinet secretary.

The residence, typically reserved for the Coast Guard commandant at Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, became available after Trump fired then-Commandant Linda Fagan in 2025. She reportedly gave the reasoning while moving into the house that she was receiving threats, for which she needed protection.

The “ICE Barbie” was expected to move out of the residence after being ousted from her position as the DHS Secretary by Trump, and significant criticism over her use of taxpayer funds for a costly advertisement campaign.

Kristi Noem continues to live in the Coast Guard house despite being fired.

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Noem is still residing in the residence, which might turn out to be a new fiasco for her. She is already in the middle of controversies with her losing her job and her husband, Bryon Noem, being caught in a cross-dressing scandal.

Sources familiar with the property revealed to the publication that a black SUV associated with the former secretary was spotted outside the residence earlier this week.

The U.S. Coast Guard officials have also seen Noem on the base in recent days. The Coast Guard falls under the domain of the Department of Homeland Security. However, in her new role as Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas, Noem now serves under the State Department and is no longer associated with the DHS.

Kristi Noem is reportedly also living with her rumored lover in the house.

Not only this, but Noem’s rumored lover, Corey Lewandowski, has also lived in the same residence. The New York Post reported that Lewandowski began staying at the Coast Guard residence around the time Bryon Noem's cross-dressing scandal became public

An individual close to the fiasco revealed to the Wall Street Journal that Corey Lewandowski, who quit his job at the Department of Homeland Security, was spotted at the residence in early April.

However, in an attempt to rubbish the affair rumors, Lewandowski, who is married to Alison Lewandowski, said through his attorney, “Scores of people have visited Ms. Noem at the house in a business capacity.”

Kristi Noem had shifted to the residence, which was made for the Coast Guard Commandant after the President fired the then-Commandant, Linda Fagan, in 2025.

Sources told the Wall Street Journal that Admiral Kevin Lunday, the current Coast Guard commandant, told his associates that he plans to relocate to the Commandant’s residence.

Lunday currently occupies a comparable neighboring residence designated for the Vice Commandant. However, the Admiral is eyeing to live in the house where Kristi Noem has been staying. This is so that the current Vice Commandant Thomas G. Allan Jr. can start living in his present residence.

According to a 2025 Washington Post report, Noem was living rent-free in the Coast Guard residence. Democratic Rep. Jamie Raskin has also accused Noem of allegedly “living rent-free in the official waterfront residence reserved for the commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard.”
