King Charles Did Not Take the News Well That He and Donald Trump Are Distant Cousins — Sources Say He Is 'Sickened'
King Charles has reportedly reacted with discomfort to the discovery that he and Donald Trump share a distant family connection. Amid his ongoing visit to the U.S., it has been revealed that the monarch shares a distant ancestral link with Trump where they happen to be cousins.
King Charles and Queen Camilla, currently in Washington, D.C., for a state visit, were hosted by President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at the White House.
The visit comes as British officials have shifted away from describing U.S.-UK relations as a "special relationship," opting instead for language like "enduring relationship," according to reports.
Charles and Trump Happen to be Distant Cousins
Donald Trump and King Charles are distant cousins where they are descended from a 16th century Scottish nobleman.
According to RadarOnline, amid Charles’ visit to the U.S., new genealogical research indicates the monarch and the president are distant cousins, as they are both descended from a 16th-century Scottish nobleman.
However, an insider who possesses knowledge about this discovery has revealed that the King is not very happy with this revelation because he completely disagrees with Trump’s way of functioning.
The source said, “There was a degree of discomfort at the discovery – not because of the historical connection itself, which is not unusual among European and transatlantic lineages, but because Charles basically detests everything Trump stands for.
Charles is Not Very Happy with The Discovery
Donald Trump cracks a joke on finding out that he is related to King Charles.
The insider added that King Charles is “sickened” to know that he is related to Trump. The source said, “He is, frankly, sickened to know they have any relation. He hates Trump's foreign policy, environmental policy, his manners, and his personality – but even he can see the humor in him being related to someone he hates."
The two men's shared lineage traces back to the 3rd Earl of Lennox, who was connected to James II of Scotland. The research showed that Trump's maternal line, through his mother Mary Anne MacLeod, connects to the extended family tree of the House of Windsor.
This makes Charles and Trump distant cousins who are separated by many generations. Trump has been quite vocal about his feelings for the King and his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II.
Reports suggest that he had once heaped a lot of praise for the Queen. Donald Trump said about the longest ruling female monarch, “I had a really good relationship with her. She was unbelievable. I liked her, and she liked me."
Reports have suggested the late Queen Elizabeth II found Trump difficult, with sources describing her as finding him "rude." In an interview with Sky News, Trump also praised King Charles, calling him "a great guy" and "a fighter."
The genealogical connection runs through several Scottish families, including the Mackays and MacLeods, before reaching Trump's American branch which is based in the U.S.
Historians note that such connections are common given the interwoven nature of European noble lineages and migration patterns to North America in the 18th and 19th centuries.
