Nearly two months after her mother, Nancy Guthrie went missing, Savannah Guthrie returned to the Today show on Monday, April 6, after her long absence. Surprisingly, on the same day, an update came out regarding the whereabouts of the 84‑year‑old.

TMZ received another ransom note from someone who has sent messages before. The note made a serious claim that Nancy Guthrie was dead, and sought “half a bitcoin” in exchange for information about the location of Guthrie’s alleged dead body, and who her kidnappers were.

TMZ shares the new ransom note

The mystery around Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance has taken another troubling turn, as TMZ was once again contacted by the same person who previously demanded one bitcoin in exchange for information about Nancy Guthrie.

On Monday, TMZ founder Harvey Levin shared details of the latest ransom note on air, and said, “We got another letter today from this person, an email saying, ‘I know where her body is, and who the kidnapper is, give me half a bitcoin and I’ll tell you,’”

According to the outlet, the new ransom note read, “I saw her alive with them in the state of Sonora, Mexico.” Since Sonora is a large Mexican state, the sender asked for half a bitcoin first to share further details about Guthrie's exact whereabouts.

So far, there is no proof to support this claim yet. However, TMZ has already informed the FBI about the situation. “We sent the first note to the FBI, but it seems the feds aren't convinced it's legit, at least, based on the fact there's been no deposit into the related bitcoin address,” TMZ said.

Harvey Levin further stated that the sender has been very persistent, even though they could face serious legal trouble if the messages turn out to be fake.

Sender Claims To Play No Part In Nancy Guthrie’s Abduction

Even though the TMZ founder seemed convinced about the verity of the sender, the FBI doesn't seem to buy the information. Therefore, in the note, the sender even complained about how their earlier offer was ignored.

They claimed they had been ready to share information since February 11 but were treated like a scam. “It's unbelievable that millions have been wasted and yet here I am willing to deliver them on a silver platter since the 11th of February for a bitcoin but I am disregarded as a scam”

The note continued, “They are free and the case is frozen but the egos remain hot when it comes to me. Arrogance at its finest.” The sender has demanded half a bitcoin to share the information, “and then when there is a public arrest, the other half gets transferred to their bitcoin wallet.”

Further, the sender also said they are not involved in the kidnapping and claimed “they've been out of the U.S. for more than 5 years, and had nothing to do with the ‘horrific crime.’” In another message, the person further insisted that money is not their main goal.

"I just want what's fair and to live peacefully with enough to start my life again quietly without having to join a witness protection program.” The note said. However, there is still no proof that the sender’s claims are true, and the FBI continues to investigate the case.
