First Lady Melania Trump on Thursday made a statement from the White House and denied any past relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

“The falsehoods connecting me to the scandalous Jeffrey Epstein must be put to rest today. I have never had a friendship with Epstein,” the first lady said. According to recordings obtained by The Daily Beast and released before the 2024 election, Epstein could be heard boasting about his close relationship with the president and first lady.

In August 2017, as per The Guardian, Jeffrey had lengthy conversations with author Michael Wolff for his bestselling book Fire and Fury, two years before he was found dead in his New York prison cell in 2019. Officials report that he took his own life. In the recordings, Epstein described himself to Wolff as Trump’s ‘closest friend for a decade.’ Speaking on Thursday, FLOTUS claimed she never traveled on the infamous Lolita Express.

The first lady said, "I was never aware of Epstein's mistreatment of his victims." I was never engaged in any way. “I did not take part, never flew on Epstein’s plane, and never went to his private island”. In her remarks, she maintained that her emails with Epstein’s associate Ghislaine Maxwell, currently serving a 20-year sentence for s– trafficking, were merely informal exchanges.

“I never had any connection with Epstein or his associate Maxwell. My response to Maxwell via email can only be considered informal communication. My courteous response to her email is nothing more than a trivial note,” she said.

Nonetheless, as per the email disclosed in a collection of Epstein documents made public in January by the Department of Justice, the first lady was seen expressing enthusiasm to Maxwell in 2002. She said it was a response, but the subject line “HI!” suggested that she started the conversation. She signed it as “With love, Melania.” Maxwell’s subject line indicated it was a reply to her own response. In it, she called then-Melania Knauss “Sweet pea.”

One more email sent by an anonymized sender to Epstein shortly after the 2016 election referenced Melania Trump’s initial encounter with Trump, implying a connection to Epstein. “I recall flying back with Donald on his plane the first weekend I visited you in Florida, which was when he met Melania, and he kept coming out of the bedroom saying, ‘Wow, what a stunning piece of a--,’” the unidentified sender wrote.

Nevertheless, in her Thursday statement, the first lady claimed that Epstein did not introduce her to Trump. “Epstein never introduced me to Donald Trump. I encountered my husband unexpectedly at a party in New York City in 1998," she remarked.

Melania Trump stated that her initial encounter with Epstein took place in 2000 at an event she joined with her husband. She said she was unaware of Epstein’s illegal acts and stated that she is not a witness to any of his offenses.
