'Cringeworthy and Deliberate': Royal Aides Frustrated With Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Over Secret 'Hijacking Diary'
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's actions are often subjected to intense public scrutiny.
This time, the duo is facing accusations of "hijacking" appearances and announcements of senior royals.
Insiders alleged that the Sussexes often deliberately schedule their moves to overshadow senior members of the royal family.
Harry and Markle are said to have an alleged “hijacking diary,” where the couple is accused of keeping tabs on important dates for royal events so that they can redirect media attention toward themselves.
'An Attempt to Hijack Charles' Activities'
Meghan Markle shares an Instagram post to mark her eighth wedding anniversary with Prince Harry.
While there is no solid evidence about Harry and Markle keeping tabs on all royal events, sources told RadarOnline that the controversy erupted after the couple shared romantic photos marking their eighth wedding anniversary.
Their social media posts coincided with King Charles III and Queen Camilla’s three-day Northern Ireland trip.
The photos, posted during the king and queen’s royal tour, reportedly reignited tensions between the Sussexes and the Buckingham Palace.
Following this, insiders alleged that the timing pulled public attention away from the king’s official engagements and toward the couple's wedding anniversary.
“There is enormous frustration in some palace circles because this pattern keeps repeating itself,” a royal insider noted.
“Every time there is a major royal engagement involving the king or queen, something appears from Harry and Meghan that drags media attention back toward themselves,” a source said, adding, “Those inside the royal family increasingly view it as cringeworthy and deliberate, and an attempt to hijack Charles' activities.”
Sources further noted that since similar incidents have happened repeatedly -- where the Sussexes have diverted attention away from senior royals -- the staff has grown unhappy with the couple.
“The timing of the release of their eighth wedding anniversary photographs during Charles and Camilla's Northern Ireland tour raised eyebrows immediately,” an insider stated.
“Staff working around the king feel royal visits should be about the public engagements themselves, not competing headlines generated from California,” the source further added.
Insiders Believe Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Are Trying to 'Rebuild Relevance'
Harry’s recent public appearances have also reportedly sparked criticism from palace insiders.
Earlier this year, the Duke of Sussex traveled to Ukraine just before Charles’ planned state visit to the United States, drawing comparisons to the humanitarian efforts of Harry's late mother, Princess Diana.
This led insiders to believe that Harry is trying to rebuild his image in Britain while clashing with the work of the royal family.
A source stated, “There are advisors around the king who genuinely believe Harry is trying to rebuild relevance in Britain through carefully staged interventions tied to emotional causes.”
“The feeling among critics is that every speech, article, or appearance has become part of a broader image rehabilitation campaign for Harry, but it is clashing badly with the public efforts of the rest of the royal family,” the insider noted.
The source further claimed, “There is now a barbed joke among palace aides Harry and Meghan have a secret 'hijacking diary.'”
Insiders noted that the royal staff believes the diary holds information about “upcoming royal engagements so they can try and launch something to overshadow or at least steal the limelight.”\
However, despite the criticism, people close to Harry say he remains focused on veterans’ welfare, mental health, environmental causes and support for Ukraine.
This increases the unresolved tension between Harry and Buckingham Palace ahead of his expected return to Britain before the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.
