Claire Danes is miles away from her homeland! On March 25, the actress was seen filming scenes in Maldon, England, for the upcoming historical drama The Essex Serpent.
The series, which is based on Sarah Perry's 2016 novel of the same name, is set during the Victorian era and centers on Cora (Danes), a widow who moves to Essex after hearing rumors that a mythical creature known as the Essex Serpent has returned to the small town.

Roll camera! The star wore a gray ensemble while standing near some filming equipment.
Though Keira Knightley was originally set to star, it was reported in October that she stepped down from the project, citing family reasons.
According to the Daily Mail, "there wasn’t a comfortable scenario for Keira that could be put in place for an extended period of childcare required for the four-and-a-half-month production."
Danes was all smiles as her layered attire was adjusted by an assistant, who like other crew members, wore a face mask.
"We are delighted that the production company has chosen the Maldon District as one of their locations for a new six-part drama," a spokesperson for Maldon Council stated of the project. "They will be operating in line with the Government’s guidelines which legally permits them to undertake Covid-secure film and television production."
The period piece is Danes' first role since her political thriller Homeland wrapped up last year after eight seasons.
"I loved her," she gushed of portraying CIA officer Carrie Mathison. "It was just so nice to play the smartest person in the room, somebody who was so daring and unapologetically ambitious and such a badass."
In one scene around Promenade Park, Danes carried a brown weathered briefcase. The Hollywood star's blonde locks were done up in an intricate braided style.
No premiere date has been announced for the series, but earlier this month, it was announced that London native Tom Hiddleston joined the cast as Will Ransome, "a trusted leader in a small English community," revealed The Hollywood Reporter.
