According to People magazine's report, an order was issued by a judge on Monday, May 4, 2026, denying a motion from Pitt’s lawyer. The motion, if passed, would have required Jolie to release over 22 communications in connection with her and Pitt’s winery dispute.

The Eternals star’s lawyers argued that these private messages are protected by the attorney-client privilege. The judge also adopted an appellate court’s decision reversing a previous order to push the production of these text messages.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Ciny Pánuco released a statement on the verdict that said the F1 actor has not “met his burden” to show that the communications are free from the protection.

The judge added that “further discovery may yield additional facts” that could falsify Angelina Jolie’s claims, adding that Pitt has “not done so on the present record.”

The judge has also denied the Maleficent actress’s request for $33,692.50 in sanctions, adding that they were “not warranted” because Brad Pitt’s position “was not without substantial justification.”

Taking a dig at the Fight Club actor, Jolie’s lawyer revealed in a statement to the publication that the actor was completely “out of bounds” when he asked for privileged documents from his client.

The attorney also blasted Brad Pitt by asserting that this behavior of his to gain access to Jolie’s private communication with her lawyers is an example of his “controlling” personality.

Angelina Jolie’s attorney, Paul Murphy, stated, “This is an important victory for Ms. Jolie,” adding that Brad Pitt was “completely out of bounds when he sought access to obviously privileged documents."

The statement added that, “this is part of Mr. Pitt’s pattern of demanding control over anything Angelina, including control over her communications with her own attorneys. We are extremely gratified that both the Court of Appeal and the trial court ultimately put a stop to it."

Meanwhile, an insider close to the Babylon actor said, “The judge allowed Pitt’s team to revisit [the decision] as evidence develops. It’s notable how Jolie has withheld so many documents as privileged. It’s just some of the evidence in the case.”

The internet was quick to react to the latest development in the legal dispute between Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. One social media user wrote, “Good, Brad Pitt does not even deserve her nail cut off. Angelina Jolie does not deserve to be treated this way. She deserves peace, respect, and freedom to be. Let her breathe and be done already.”

Another user on X made a strong allegation against Pitt, commenting, “Brad Pitt is an abuser, and the way he is crossing legal limits to continue the abuse towards Angie, asking the court illegal things is the proof. We always get receipts.”

The legal battle over the Château Miraval winery dates back to 2022, when Pitt filed a lawsuit challenging Jolie’s decision to sell her stake in the business to Tenute del Mondo, the wine division of the Stoli Group. He claimed the sale violated a prior agreement requiring mutual consent. Jolie has denied that such an agreement existed and filed a countersuit, accusing Pitt of “waging a vindictive war against her.”
