Amy Schumer shared herrecent health struggles after her colonoscopy went wrong.
Amy Schumer Says ‘Botched’ Procedure Left Her Feeling Different
Amy Schumer says she finally feels “happier than I’ve ever been before.” But the comedian also shared that a medical procedure that she had recently has left her “not feeling very s*xu*l” during a candid conversation about her health, how she's managed to transform her body, and the ups and downs of her personal life.
Schumer appeared on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast and spoke to Amanda Hirsch and told her that she had a colonoscopy that it didn't turn out so well for her, per Us Weekly.
“I feel happier than I’ve ever been before,” the actress said before adding, “I actually had, kind of, a botched colonoscopy, so I’m not feeling very s*xu*l.”
The comment landed as she shared the situation she found herself in. But it's not new for Schumer to open up about what she's going through.
In the past two years, Schumer has openly discussed deeply personal health struggles that she says changed both her appearance and quality of life.
Even though she didn't share more information about how it went wrong, the tidbit of information showed a vulnerable side to the celebrity, endearing her to especially those who know her backstory.
Amy Schumer's health journey from weight loss to Cushing syndrome
Amy Schumer was diagnosed with Cushing syndrome.
The actress has repeatedly explained that her dramatic weight loss happened after she found out that she had Cushing Syndrome which is a hormonal disorder which elevated her cortisol levels.
Schumer took to social media in 2025 to share that her weight loss was not cosmetic. She had previously shared that she was on a journey to become healthy and strong, but this was not that.
“I didn’t lose 30lbs, I lost 50,” she wrote at the time. “Not to look hot which does feel fun and temporary. I did it to survive.”
She filled fans in that her condition could "kill you" and that it was the internet's comments about her appearance that led to her looking for medical answers.
“I was getting these steroid injections, and so it gave me this thing called Cushing syndrome; which I wouldn’t have known if the internet hadn’t come for me so hard,” Schumer said on the Call Her Daddy podcast.
Previously, the actress also talked about not feeling confident in her body.
She has also shared that she used Mounjaro after struggling with Wegovy. “Three years ago, I tried Wegovy. I was puking, I couldn’t handle it,” she said at the time.
Schumer added that hormone treatment for perimenopause also improved her health significantly.
“My hair is fuller, my skin is better, I have more energy,” she said. “I want to get down more, if you know what I mean," she quipped.
That contrast in how she feels physically made her recent colonoscopy remark stand out even more to fans as they follow along with her health journey.
Amy Schumer announced her divorce from husband
Amy Schumer and her ex Chris Fischer are co-parenting their son.
Her health isn't the only change the actress has experienced in the last few months.
Schumer and Chris Fischer announced that they were ending their marriage in December 2025 after nearly eight years together.
“Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,” she stated on social media.
They have a 7-year-old son, Gene, and they planned to remain closely connected as co-parents.
