After Chrissy Teigen and husband John Legend lost their third child, Jack, during the final trimester in late 2020, the couple — who are parents to Luna, 5, and Miles, 3 — are feeling ready to try again.
The model, 36, shared the news on Instagram, where she also took the opportunity to encourage fans to stop making assumptions about a woman's health based on their body.
"I wanted to let you guys know I’m balls deep in another IVF cycle to save as many eggos as I possibly can and hopefully make some strong, healthy embryos," her caption began. "I honestly don’t mind the shots…they make me feel like a doctor/chemist…but the bloating is a b***h, so I humbly beg you to stop asking if I’m pregnant because while I know it’s said with excited, good intentions, it just kind of sucks to hear because I am the opposite of pregnant!"
The Cravings cookbook author concluded her note by telling fans to stop "asking people, anyone, if they’re pregnant," as you never know what someone is going through privately.
"I said this in the comments and got yelled at because the internet is wild," she noted, "but I’d rather be the one to tell you and not some poor woman who will look you in the eyes through tears and that’s how you finally learn."
Teigen has kept Jack in her thoughts, and this past October, the family held a memorial for him at home.
"Took me a year but finally honored his little spirit with some blessings today," she revealed. "Hopefully some closure in my heart will happen now 😩 thank you guys for the kind words. It's a process. Xx."
The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit star has been candid about the grief she experienced after losing Jack, sharing intimate photos from the hospital room.
"We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. To our Jack - I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive," she wrote at the time. "We will always love you. Thank you to everyone who has been sending us positive energy, thoughts and prayers. We feel all of your love and truly appreciate you."
