27 Dogs Seized From 'Deplorable Conditions' in Washington Home
Police in Washington state recently rescued 27 dogs from a home in Midland where the animals were living in untenable conditions.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Office checked out the property following a complaint about the smell and noise coming from the dogs and puppies kept in the home.
The complaint, which was submitted online to Pierce County Animal Control, also mentioned an excess of trash surrounding the property as well as overgrown bushes.
Pierce County police warned the public that they may not own more than a total of five dogs and cats without a kennel license.
"We recently had another large animal seizure of 27 dogs. This is another good reminder to ask for help with your animals if things are getting out of control," Pierce County Sheriff's Office shared on social media alongside footage of the operation. "On September 15, our animal control responded to the conduct of welfare check on the animals and discovered 27 dogs living in small rooms in small cages of the home. The dogs were in deplorable conditions which were unsanitary and filled with urine and feces. Animal control seized all 27 dogs with a warrant. Two recently deceased dogs were also located. Criminal charges will be forwarded to a prosecutor for review for animal cruelty and confinement of animals in unsafe manner. Please know in Pierce County you can have a total of five dogs and cats. And if you're going to have more than that, you need to apply for a kennel license."

Pierce County Sheriff's Office is very proud of its K-9 team.
The Pierce County Sheriff's Office handled the dogs they found with great care — which isn't surprising since the department is full of dog lovers.
Exhibit A: They recently posted a video celebrating their elite K-9 team, made up of Deputy Levi Redding and Coda, a 3-year-old German Shepherd.
"Coda has played a crucial role in locating suspects, including one hidden in heavy brush after a chase," the Sheriff's Office shared on YouTube. "Daily, Coda enjoys playing with another dog at home, Petey, to stay active and engaged."
