MAGA Rift? Greene Raises New Questions on Trump Rally Shooting
‘Why Isn’t He?’ Marjorie Taylor Greene Presses Trump Over Unanswered Questions on Assassination Attempt
The Butler rally shooting is back in the headlines, and the renewed buzz is coming from within MAGA circles. Marjorie Taylor Greene has stepped forward with fresh questions about the 13th July, 2024 assassination attempt on Donald Trump, drawing attention to what she says still needs answers, reported The Daily Beast.
In a post on X, Greene said, “President Trump, of all people, should be leading the charge” to determine all the facts of what happened that day in Butler, Pennsylvania, during a 2024 campaign speech. “Why isn’t he?” Greene demanded. “That’s the question.” The incident remains one of the most widely discussed moments.

As Trump spoke on stage, shots rang out. Authorities said the suspected gunman, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed by a Secret Service sniper after opening fire. A bullet grazed Trump’s ear, officials said. Moments later, as agents surrounded him, Trump raised his fist toward the crowd and shouted: “Fight! Fight! Fight!”
Two people were injured in the shooting. Local firefighter Corey Comperatore was killed while shielding his family. Afterward, Trump said he had been “saved by God," stating he believed he was spared to “make America great again.”
Questions about the event surfaced soon after. Now, similar claims are circulating again online, including speculation that the attack may have been staged. No evidence supports those claims, and a federal task force report concluded the shooting occurred as described.
Greene directed her followers to a post by Trisha Hope, calling it ‘an extremely important post worth reading’ and adding, “Corey Comperatore’s family deserves to know the truth about Matthew Crooks and what happened in Butler on July 13, 2024.” In that post, Hope listed several points she questioned about the aftermath.
She wrote, “When people tell a lie, certainly a big one, it is tough to keep all the details straight… In my opinion, Trump made that statement to stop any further conversation about what happened,” and added, “We all know no one loves Trump more than Trump, so this to me felt completely out of character.” Hope also described it as “odd” that Trump did not “aggressively” criticize Secret Service agents after the incident.

One of those agents, Sean M. Curran, was later promoted to director of the Secret Service. Trump praised him at the time, saying he risked “his life to help save mine from an assassin’s bullet.”
A later review by the Department of Homeland Security found security failures that contributed to the situation, leading to the suspension of six agents. Hope also pointed to the widely circulated image taken moments after the shooting, referencing how Trump remained visible as agents surrounded him.
She concluded her post by stating: “If you cannot look at this story, and use critical thinking skills and have at least some questions, you are the problem and we need you to snap out of it.”
Greene’s repost drew widespread reactions online. Some users compared the Butler incident to past attacks, including the shooting of Ronald Reagan by John Hinckley Jr., referencing differences in security response. The shooting, the official findings, and the ongoing online discussion continue to generate attention as new voices weigh in.
