Nonetheless, the photograph that has surfaced on the internet left netizens furious over how the tennis players were positioned relative to their coaches.

The photo was posted by Margo Martin, Trump's special assistant and communications adviser. In the picture, the women's tennis team was seen standing behind six men, including the president, who was standing slightly elevated on a step. Meanwhile, several internet users expressed their disappointment in the comments section as one user wrote, “I can barely see the women... This is embarrassing, and the image is a great visual representation of the Republican Party’s attitudes towards women.”

Another user took a jab writing, “If that doesn’t perfectly represent how Trump and republicans feel about women, I don’t know what does! Good job, guys.” A third user wrote, “This 100% epitomizes MAGA and the women who support MAGA. The women being honored in the back, practically hidden, and the men in front. And the women just smile and take it because they’re just happy to be there.”

Another comment read, “Who is being celebrated in this picture? Usually puts the focus of the picture front and center, not hidden behind the dude bros..” One more user sarcastically asked, “What happened to keeping men out of women’s sports?”

According to The Mirror US, Trump was met with silence when he asked athletes whether they supported his ban on transgender competitors. While hosting over 100 NCAA student athletes from several championship-winning teams to the Oval Office, he addressed them, asserting that college sports are “America’s most cherished institution.”

He referenced it as a tradition where the lessons learned in sport help build strong character, further praising them for earning their place as winners.

Trump then reflected on his decision to ban transgender athletes as he said, “As soon as I took office, I ended a terrible injustice and banned men from competing in women’s sports. I don’t know if anybody agrees. Does anybody agree with that, that men should be able to play in women’s sports? Would you like to raise your hand?”

According to the report, the room responded with what was described as an uneasy laugh, he stated that it is often described as an 80-20 issue, whereas it is closer to 99-1. “Maybe it’s a little bit more than that, coach, right? Maybe it’s 100-to-nothing. I campaigned on that one all the time. I say, ‘There will be no men in women’s sports,’ and people would go crazy. But you’re politically correct,” the president concluded.
