'Sugar Daddy' Scandal Exposes Online Life of Top Counterterrorism Official in Trump's Administration
A top-ranking counterterrorism official working in President Donald Trump's administration has been accused of actively looking for "sugar daddies" to fund her lavish lifestyle, a new report has revealed.
On Wednesday, April 22, the Daily Mail broke the news about Julia Varvaro, who met a man named Robert B on the dating site Hinge earlier this year.
Robert told the media outlet that he spent over $40,000 on Varvaro, paying for her shopping sprees and several trips, during their three-month-long fling.
However, he said that no amount of money spent was enough to keep her happy.
Varvaro, 29, the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Counterterrorism at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), believes that she did nothing wrong.
"I didn't know it was bad to go on vacation with your boyfriend," she told the outlet.
"We were together in an exclusive relationship. We went on vacations. I don't know what's the problem with that," she said.
A formal complaint has been launched against DHS counterterrorism official Julia Varvaro.
Julia Varvaro Alleged Made a Profile on a 'Sugar Daddy' Website
Robert has reportedly filed an official complaint with the DHS Inspector General, alleging that Varvaro made a profile on the website Seeking meant to find "sugar daddies."
According to the Daily Mail, which reviewed the profile, Varvaro presented herself as Alessia, who offered "seductive sophistication."
She reportedly used the same picture that is on her Instagram profile.
As per the report, the profile on the website was created a day after Thanksgiving last year.
However, when questioned by the Daily Mail, Varvaro denied having such a profile on the website. The profile was allegedly removed after the publication reached out to her initially for comment.
According to the publication, in his complaint to the Inspector General, Robert claimed that Varvaro told him sugar daddies had paid for her college education, so she does not have any college debt.

He also claimed that Varvaro told him directly that her lavish jewelry, worth $40,000, was a gift from her sugar daddies.
Robert, who is a divorced father, then suggested that Varvaro could pose a threat to security. "I believe that she's under financial stress and that her actions pose a security risk," he wrote.
Julia Varvaro's Private Life Reportedly Comparable to Bryon Noem's Cross-Dressing Scandal
The report comes just weeks after the Daily Mail exposed former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem's husband, Bryon Noem's secret double life.
Earlier this month, the publication reported that Bryon had racked up a massive debt after making payments to several women he met online. It was also reported that he indulged in cross-dressing.
Security officials who spoke with the Daily Mail opined that if the allegations against Varvaro are proven true, the case would be comparable to that of Bryon.
They also opined that the case could actually be "worse."
"Allegations of a sugar daddy relationship and unreported income from that relationship are serious issues for DHS security personnel that need to be resolved," former CIA officer Marc Polymeropoulos told the outlet.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General has neither confirmed nor denied that an investigation against Varvaro is underway.
