Simon Cowell's 9-Year-Old Son Predicted the 'AGT' Season 18 Winner: He 'Will Be Filling Daddy's Footsteps in a Few Years'

Simon Cowell is known for being the tough-guy judge who isn't afraid to tell it like it is on competition shows such as America's Got Talent, The X Factor and American Idol. In recent years, however, the English record executive has revealed a softer side through his role as a father.

And apparently, Cowell intends to have his son take over the family business one day.

Cowell and his fiancée Lauren Silverman welcomed their son, Eric, in 2014. Much to the delight of fans, all three members of the family walked the red carpet together ahead of the AGT season 18 finale on September 27.

"He's my life," Simon told E! News of his 9-year-old. "I love him so much and the fact that he loves the show as well. I mean, it's everything I could have hoped for. He was excited tonight and he was so happy tonight, so to be able to share that with him, it means a lot to me."

The music mogul also shared that Eric could very well take over the family business one day.

"You bet!" he told the outlet from the red carpet. "I mean, I did say to him tonight, 'Trust me, you are filling Daddy's footsteps in a few years' time.'"

Following the AGT season 18 finale, Cowell shared with Access Hollywood that Eric had correctly predicted the winner — Adrian Stoica and his dog, Hurricane.

"Eric, my son, was at the show last night, and I said to him this morning, 'Who do you think is going to win?'" he told the outlet. "He went, 'Hurricane.' Seriously. He really, really called it. He's just obsessed with this dog."

The doting dad added: "I watched him as the result came in, and he's like jumping up in the air. He was so excited."

Of being able to share these moments with his son, Eric, Cowell told Access Hollywood: "It's the best. I mean, ever since he was a baby, he used to come to the shows with me. And I always thought, 'Well God, what happens if he doesn't like what I do?' But he really loves this show, you know? And he gets invested."

In 2022, sat down with The Sun for an interview, during which he shared how becoming a father changed his life.

"Eric changed everything," he explained. "Once I lost my mum and my dad, you kind of think you're never going to feel that love again, which you had for your parents. It's like, that's it. And then of course, now you have kids, I never thought I would feel that way, and it is beyond what you have for your parents. It almost hurts how much you love someone."

Hopefully, Cowell and Eric will be able to bond over the family business for years to come!
