JD Vance accused Ilhan Omar of committing immigration fraud.
‘Ridiculous Lie’: Ilhan Omar’s Team Claps Back As Somaliland Makes ‘Extradition’ Claims Following JD Vance's 'Fraud' Allegations
Vice President JD Vance has sparked a major controversy that has now drawn the Republic of Somaliland into the fray. Appearing on a podcast interview on March 27, Vance insinuated that Congresswoman Ilhan Omar may have committed immigration fraud.
Although Omar did not respond directly to the comment, the Republic of Somaliland reacted strongly and even called for her extradition. As the situation grew more tense, a spokesperson for Omar told Fox News Digital in a statement that the claim made by the Vice President is “a ridiculous lie.”
'Extradition? Say The Word'
JD Vance’s accusation against Ilhan Omar causes controversy.
During his podcast interview, JD Vance made a strong claim against Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. Speaking with conservative commentator Benny Johnson, Vance said he believes Omar “definitely committed immigration fraud against the United States of America.”
“We’re trying to look at what the remedies are,” Vance said. “That’s the thing that we’re trying to figure out: what are the legal remedies now that we know that she’s committed immigration fraud?”
He further added, “How do you go after her, how do you investigate her, how do you actually do the thing, how do you build a case necessary to get some justice for the American people?” Vance also revealed that he has discussed the matter with White House immigration advisor Stephen Miller.
Although Vance said officials are looking into the matter and may take action once they build evidence, the situation took a surprising turn when the Republic of Somaliland reacted to his remarks.
Taking to X, Republic of Somaliland mocked the idea of deportation and suggested extradition instead. “Deportation? Please you’re just sending the princess back to her kingdom. Extradition? Say the word …” the post read.
Ilhan Omar’s Spokesperson Dismisses JD Vance's Allegation
Meanwhile, following the tweet from the Republic of Somaliland, the office of Ilhan Omar has strongly denied the claims made by Vice President JD Vance. Responding to the controversy, Omar’s chief of staff, Connor McNutt, called the accusation “a ridiculous lie.”
In an emailed statement sent to Fox News Digital, McNutt asserted that Vance’s remarks were a “desperate attempt” to shift attention away from bigger issues like the ongoing Iran conflict, rising gas prices, and falling poll numbers.
“This is rich coming from someone who literally said they were willing to ‘create stories’ to redirect the media,” McNutt said. “This is a ridiculous lie and a desperate attempt to distract from the pedophile protection party’s unpopular war of choice, increasing gas prices, and rapidly dropping polling numbers.”
However, this is not the first time Omar has faced such accusations. Although she has yet to respond directly to JD Vance’s claims, she has previously denied similar claims made by Donald Trump. Back in December, Omar pushed back on all allegations, describing them as “bigoted lies” and saying Trump was obsessed with her.
