'Real Risk': Kanye West and Travis Scott’s Concerts Banned in Italy Over Security Issues
Italian authorities have banned Kanye West and Travis Scott from performing in the country over safety concerns and with a view to maintain public order.
According to a report by the BBC, Prefect Salvatore Angieri revealed on Friday, May 29, that the rappers' upcoming concerts in the northern city of Reggio Emilia have been called off.
Why Were Kanye West and Travis Scott’s Concerts Cancelled?
Kanye West's scheduled concert in Italy has been cancelled.
The decision followed a request from the local Jewish community, which wanted West's concert to be canceled.
Community leader Nicoletta Uzzielli requested local officials to replace the controversial rapper’s slot with a performance that would bring “music back to the forefront as a universally unifying force."
This comes amid the I Wonder hitmaker’s history of reported racist, antisemitic, and pro-N*zi comments, which also recently led to him being banned from the U.K.
The restriction comes as a huge professional blow to the rapper, who was scheduled to perform at the location along with the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Rita Ora, and The Chainsmokers.
The regional prefecture released a statement regarding West's canceled performance, citing the “cancellation of previous concerts by the American rapper in other countries and the real risk of counter-demonstrations."
Reportedly, the closeness between West and Scott’s respective shows -- which were scheduled for July 17 and 18 at Reggio Emilia's RCF Arena -- and the humongous crowd the back-to-back dates would have attracted was another major reason behind the ban.
Scott’s scheduled appearance had also come under scrutiny due to safety concerns lingering from his Astroworld concert in Houston, Texas, in 2021, where 10 people between the ages of 9 and 27 tragically died.
Thousands of others were seriously injured after a crowd crush broke out when panic caused attendees to be pressed toward the front of the stage.
On the other hand, the Wireless Festival in London -- which West was set to headline -- was canceled in April 2026 after the rapper was denied permission to enter the UK over his controversial statements.
West took to his social media handle in 2022 to post that he would go “death con 3 On Jewish people”.
In May 2025, the Runaway singer also released a track titled Heil Hitler and sold T-shirts featuring swastikas.
His subsequent entry ban in the U.K. triggered a domino effect of cancellations across Europe.
Social Media Users Weigh In

The internet quickly reacted to the news of West and Scott’s concerts being blocked.
One user asked, “Didn’t Kanye apologize?” while another user noted, “Italy looked at the risk assessment and closed the tab.”
An individual commented, “Italy really said, good food, good views, but not too much chaos.”
“After what Travis did for Rome a few years ago, Italy is so weird,” stated one user. This was in reference to the Highest in the Room rapper’s iconic sold-out 2023 concert in Rome which also witnessed West as a guest performer.
