'Ketamine Queen' Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison as Matthew Perry's Family Cites 'Irreversible' Damage
It has been almost three years since the tragic death of the beloved Friends actor Matthew Perry, who was found lifeless in the backyard hot tub of his Pacific Palisades home.
However, the case linked to his death is still ongoing, as Jasveen Sangha, known as the "Ketamine Queen," has now been sentenced to prison for her role in supplying the drug that led to the 2023 death of Perry.
Prosecutors said she played a key role in supplying ketamine to the actor, which eventually led to his untimely demise. Sangha has now been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison during a hearing in a Los Angeles courtroom on Wednesday, April 8.
'Catered to High-Profile Hollywood Clientele'
An X post by CNN mentions Jasveen Sangha's sentencing in the Matthew Perry death case.
Sangha's sentencing comes after the 42-year-old from North Hollywood pleaded guilty last September to multiple drug-related charges, including distributing ketamine and maintaining a place for drug activities.
Among those charges, one linked her to the death of Perry in 2023. According to court documents, prosecutors said Sangha ran a large drug business from her home, which was also her stash-house, where federal authorities found dozens of ketamine vials, thousands of methamphetamine, cocaine and Xanax pills.
Prosecutors further claimed Sangha presented herself as an exclusive dealer who served high-profile Hollywood clients. She reportedly continued her operation despite knowing the risks, and ignored the harm caused.
“For years… Sangha operated a high-volume drug trafficking business out of her North Hollywood residence," prosecutors argued.
They added, “To cultivate her business, [Sangha] marketed herself as an exclusive dealer who catered to high-profile Hollywood clientele…While [Sangha] worked to expand and profit from her drug trafficking, she knew – and disregarded – the grave harm her conduct was causing.”
Despite the claims, Sangha initially denied the charges.
However, she later agreed to change her plea in August 2024, just weeks before her trial was scheduled to begin. As Sangha pleaded guilty, Perry’s stepmother, Debbie Perry, asked the court to give the strictest punishment ahead of her sentencing. According to the BBC, she said Sangha’s actions caused “irreversible” damage to their family.
“You caused this... You who has talent for business enough to make money chose the one way that hurts people," Debbie said. "Please give this heartless woman the maximum prison sentence so she won't be able to hurt other families like ours,” she added.
Jasveen Sangha Pleaded Guilty After Initially Denying Charges
Despite initially denying the charges, Sangha changed her plea to guilty and admitted to selling ketamine in 2019 to a man named Cody McLaury. The man later died from an overdose immediately after purchasing the stash, according to the Department of Justice.
This incident further led her to admit her connection to Perry's death. Sangha opened up about supplying the drugs linked to the 2023 death of the actor.
She also admitted to the court that she arranged drug deals and asked others to delete messages that could be used as evidence.
Now, while she faces 15 years in federal prison, officials have revealed that Sangha wasn't acting alone. She was one of five people, including doctors and Perry’s assistant, accused of supplying ketamine.
Authorities said they took advantage of Perry’s addiction for profit.
