President Donald Trump, stirred controversy after he posted an AI-generated image on Truth Social on Sunday, April 12. The photo went viral, and the president was criticized for depicting himself as Jesus Christ. He then raised more eyebrows after claiming to be a 'doctor' in the photo rather than Jesus. His response came during a DoorDash promotional event, where he was accompanied by DoorDash Grandma. Soon

Now a new theory has emerged about the reasoning of Trump's explanation for posting an AI-generated image, and it points towards another discovery. According to the Irish Star, many users have shared theories behind his "doctor" comment. At the photo-op, Trump explained that he thought of himself as a doctor in the photo, saying, "I thought it was me as a doctor. Only the fake news could come up with that. I make people better."

'A little fun playing the doctor'

Trump told CBS News why he shared the image, saying that he had "fun" playing the doctor. He said, "I viewed that as a picture of me being a doctor in fixing — you had the Red Cross right there, you had, you know, medical people surrounding me. And I was like the doctor, you know, as a little fun playing the doctor and making people better. So that’s what it was viewed as. That’s what most people thought.”

The moment has fueled discussion that Trump may have misheard a remark made by Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt and called himself a "doctor" instead of "doctored". The now-deleted AI image he posted on Truth Social showed him in a white robe with red fabric covering him, resting his hand on an individual's head. Soon after deleting the picture, he posted another AI-generated image of him with Jesus Christ.

Did Trump mishear his staffers?

While there is no proof that Trump misheard Leavitt or his staffer and called the photo "doctor" instead of "doctored", this isn't the first time that his remarks have left people wondering if they were deliberate or a hearing mistake. In the past, too, he was seen facing difficulty in understanding the reporter's questions and seeking Leavitt's help.

The 'Seeking asylum/escaping asylum' theory

Reporter Manny Fidel, who is co-host of The Atlantic's NO SUCH THING podcast, mentioned on X that Trump may have misheard the word doctored as doctor. She wrote, "The image Trump posted is actually 'doctored' (they're misusing the term) in that it's an edited version of a slightly different, AI-generated image. So my guess is that the WH told Trump to use that as a deflection and he misunderstood as 'doctor'."

The idea seems to have gained traction after the president repeatedly said immigrants are “escaping from insane asylums” while arguing for stricter immigration policies. Still, many suggest the confusion may come down to a mix-up—possibly between “seeking asylum” and the more literal meaning of the word.

The White House has still not replied or commented on the online rumors regarding Trump's supposed mishearing.
