Netizens Slam 'Cowardly' Trump for Blaming Joe Biden Over Xi Jinping's 'Declining Nation' Jab

President Donald Trump wrapped up the final day of his Beijing visit by defending Chinese President Xi Jinping’s comments about the United States.

Reflecting on Jinping’s remarks about America being a “declining nation,” Trump insisted that the Chinese president was not criticizing the U.S. under his leadership.

Instead, Trump asserted that Jinping was referring to the country’s condition during the tenure of former President Joe Biden’s rule.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said that the 72-year-old praised his leadership and congratulated him on several “tremendous successes.”

However, right after his post went viral, netizens had totally opposite things to say.

Trump took it on himself to explain why he didn't counter the Chinese president and instead agreed with him.

Sharing a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that Jinping wasn't speaking of his incompetence. Instead, the president claimed that Jinping was speaking about Biden's administration.

“When President Xi very elegantly referred to the United States as perhaps being a declining nation, he was referring to the tremendous damage we suffered during the four years of Sleepy Joe Biden and the Biden Administration, and on that score, he was 100% correct,” Trump wrote.

He then went on to list everything that he thought went wrong with America under Biden's presidency.

Trump wrote, “Our Country suffered immeasurably with open borders, high taxes, transgender for everybody, men in women's sports, DEl, horrible trade deals, rampant crime, and so much more!”

Further, Trump also praised his own leadership, claiming that the United States experienced an “incredible rise” during the past 16 months of his tenure.

The 79-year-old pointed to “all-time high stock markets and 401K's, military victory and thriving relationship in Venezuela, the military decimation of Iran.”

He continued, “economic powerhouse again, with a record 18 trillion dollars being invested into the United States by others, best U.S. job market in history, with more people working in the United States right now than ever before, ending country destroying DEl, and so many other things.”

Trump concluded his Truth Social post by saying that he agreed that the U.S. had once been in decline, but he believes the country is now “the hottest Nation anywhere in the world.”

He also expressed hope that America's “relationship with China will be stronger and better than ever before!”

Meanwhile, after Trump's post was shared by the White House on X, the president faced heavy backlash.

Many users mocked Trump for appearing to accept the criticism, while others criticized him for deflecting the blame onto Biden.

One user wrote, “Trump turned Xi’s “declining nation” remark into a domestic campaign argument against Biden rather than a U.S.-China confrontation. That shift alone says a lot."

Another mocked, “To be honest, only president Trump could have pulled this and now it’s evident.”

One user directly challenged Trump’s explanation, writing, “‘Declining' means currently happening. If we were doing so well, we would be considered declining. It’s you. Btw, for someone that can’t keep his eyes open on national tv, should probably not refer to Joe Biden as 'sleepy Joe'.”

Another chimed in, "The fact Trump has to publicly explain what President Xi really meant tells us everything we need to know about what Xi “really” meant. Nothing screams strength like needing a follow-up clarification from the White House PR machine after another world leader calls America a declining nation.”

Some users criticized Trump for not pushing back against Jinping's remarks.

An individual stated, “Labeling the US “declining” is a smear from Beijing, not analysis. Trump’s cozy applause for that slander — while he trots out his own insults — is cowardly and hypocritical.”
