Ahead of President Donald Trump's trip to China, there are rumors floating around of possible negotiations between the two countries. Turns out, the internet isn't happy with what they're hearing.

The president is preparing for a high-stakes two-day visit to Beijing on May 14 and 15, where he will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping for talks on several major global issues.

The discussions are expected to focus on trade tensions between the U.S. and China, the future of Taiwan, and Beijing’s growing relationship with Iran amid the ongoing conflict.

It has also been reported that a group of 16 top American business leaders, including Elon Musk and Tim Cook, are set to join Trump on this trip, which he said is “going to be a wild one.”

An X post about Donald Trump’s potential $1 trillion deal with China.

Trump was originally expected to be in China from March 31 to April 2. However, his trip was delayed due to the conflict in the Middle East.

Now, even though the war in Iran continues, Trump has decided to move ahead with his Beijing visit.

Previously, Yun Sun, director of the Stimson Center’s China program, told The Washington Post, “The original date had to be postponed because Trump couldn’t handle two things at the same time.”

With this upcoming China trip, Trump reportedly hopes to return to Washington, D.C., with a major foreign-policy success, especially on trade.

According to the media outlet, “U.S. and Chinese officials have been working to broker a deal that experts say is likely to include Chinese agricultural purchases.”

In addition, the deal will also include, “investment agreements, a consensus statement on AI guardrails and orders of U.S. commercial aircraft.”

Meanwhile, Beijing wants to “extend [the current] trade truce, ease sanctions and technology restrictions, and potentially secure assurances the United States will pull back on arms sales to Taiwan.”

Further, there have been reports that Trump has welcomed Chinese investments worth $1 trillion in the U.S., largely to build factories on American soil.

He told the Detroit Economic Club in January, “If they want to come in and build the plant and hire you and hire your friends and your neighbors, that’s great. I love that. Let China come in.”

What Does the Internet Have to Say About a Potential U.S.-China Deal?

Meanwhile, as the report about a possible $1 trillion Chinese investment in the U.S. went viral, it sparked strong reactions from netizens.

While most social media users criticized the idea, some questioned the profitability of the deal for both countries.

Opposing the potential agreement, one person wrote, “No I don't like this, hopefully it's a false rumor.”

Another added, “The biggest betray of the American people by a president in American history.”

Critics even questioned the benefits of the proposal, saying, “This does not make America great again. Why do we even let foreign countries and companies buy up our land, farms, factories, and companies? It does not make sense to me.”

An individual stated, "Why would China build factories in the United States where everything would cost them probably 10x to build when they can just build it in China cheaper and then ship it over to United states.”

Some critics accused Trump of changing his position on China, writing, “Selling us out to China, huh? Is this what you voted for MAGA?”

Another pointed out, "Spent months calling China the enemy, slapped them with 145% tariffs, now considering letting them build $1 trillion worth of factories on US soil."
