A mother moose has gone viral after she wandered into an Alaska fire department shop in search of her calves.

In Anchorage, Alaska, earlier this year, a fire mechanic was startled when he heard grunting emanating from behind the brush rig he was working on.

When he came around the vehicle, he saw a female moose calmly looking around the shop. Then, once the moose left the building, it became clear she had been looking for her missing calves, whom she found outside the fire station.

An AFD Fire Mechanic filmed the mama moose on her search.

"Momma moose came to the AFDShop to inspect the brush truck Oral talked about last #AFDFireTruckFriday… she seemed satisfied it’d serve well in the event of a wildfire," The Anchorage Fire Department joked on social media. "She took her calves back to their regular habitat without providing feedback."

AFD shared the very sweet and funny video AFD Fire Mechanic Ryan Donahue took, and it predictably went viral.

The Anchorage Fire Department shared the lighthearted moment on social media.

In the video, Donahue unbotheredly shouts out, "Hey, there's a moose in here!"

The moose is then seen clip-clopping out of the shop. The video cuts to the mama moose with the calves, which elucidates the mystery of what she was doing inside in the first place.

"She heard she could drop her babies off, no questions asked😂," one person joked on Facebook.

"Absolutely love that after yelling, 'Hey, there’s a moose in here!' the moose looked around like, 'Where!'" another observed.

"Only in Alaska would this be a problem 🤣," a third person pointed out.

"I was working on the Chugiak brush rig behind me and I heard grunting and I got out of the rig and went behind it," Donahue told WGRZ-TV about the incident. "And there is a mama moose apparently looking for her babies. She wasn't aggressive, she didn't seem upset, so I just got my phone out and started filming. She was in here for probably 15 seconds, 20 seconds, and then she went back outside and then her little ones appeared up over on the corner of the building here."

Donahue didn't really see what all the fuss was about.

"I'm from here. I see moose every single day, so to me it's just, 'Oh,'" he explained. "I mean, they normally don't walk into your shop every day, but you see 'em on the road, you see 'em at Kincaid Park, you see 'em downtown, so for it to go crazy like this it's... I guess it's kinda cool."
