‘Mind Your Own Business’: JD Vance Explodes at Critics Targeting Erika Kirk

Vice President JD Vance stood in for Turning Point USA CEO Erika Kirk at an event in Georgia on Tuesday, April 14. However, he also took the opportunity to defend the late right-wing activist Charlie Kirk’s widow at the event by breaking into an explicit rant.

According to the Irish Star, Vance came to Kirk’s defense amid excessive scrutiny of her behavior, after her husband, Charlie Kirk, was assassinated.

The former Miss Arizona has faced criticism for her behavior since her husband's demise. She has been criticized for allegedly showcasing public displays of affection with Vance and President Donald Trump as well as attending several public events, which people thought was “unusual” for a grieving widow who is also a mother to two young children.

Despite grieving her husband publicly and on social media, Kirk has also been called out for allegedly taking up some professional roles, including taking over as TPUSA CEO. She has also been trolled for hosting extravagant events where she was seen in flashy outfits.

Speaking in Athens, Georgia, JD Vance took a potshot at Kirk’s naysayers and said, “If your instinct is to go after a young mother because she's grieving in a way that you find 'wrong,' well, why don't you stay in your lane and mind your own business? Grief is complicated.”

The VP added, “The people telling you that Erika isn't grieving her husband are full of s---.” Vance also clarified that the TPUSA CEO could not attend the event because of “some very serious threats in her direction.”

However, he refrained from elaborating on the kind of threats that have plagued the mother of two. The former corporate lawyer added, “It's a terrible reflection on the state of reality and the state of the country, but it underscores a larger point that she has received a lot of attacks from some surprising places.”

Ever since her husband's death, Kirk was actively seen taking up the reins of his organization, Turning Point USA. She has been seen in live events, high-profile interviews, attending MAGA events headlined by Trump and hosting and also hosted her late husband’s podcast.

She had sent out a strong message against the people responsible for her husband’s death in a speech shortly after Charlie was assassinated at the Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025.

Kirk said, “You have no idea what you have just unleashed across this entire country. You have no idea the fire you ignited within this wife, the cries of this widow will echo around this world like a battle cry."

However, despite many MAGA members coming to her support, she has been unable to escape the scrutiny surrounding her behavior by the social media users. She has also been accused of allegedly faking her tears and clinging onto the publicity and the donations that have come her way after Charlie’s death.

Kirk’s appointment to the United States Air Force Academy Board of Visitors by Trump recently was also heavily criticized by social media users.
