Melania Trump Mocked in ‘SNL’ ‘Save Me’ Skit After Royal Visit Draws Fresh Attention
First Lady Melania Trump was mocked on Saturday Night Live, with the show taunting her in a ‘save me’ joke. The long-running sketch show aired Saturday, May 2, and in a segment referencing the week of King Charles and Queen Camilla’s state visit with Donald Trump alongside Melania.
The visit was discussed in a mock news broadcast featuring a series of images of the couple being displayed on the screen. The host noted the couple’s ‘coordinated’ outfits to show ‘unity’.
The segment then showed an image of Melania greeting Charles, and said, "As she welcomed the royal party to the White House, Melania greeted the king with a kiss, clicking her jaw against his to spell out 'save me' in Morse code."

The jokes came after Melania Trump was seen breaking royal protocol as viewers noticed an “inappropriate” detail in her gown, during her interaction with King Charles. The taunt of “save me” came following a difficult week for Jimmy Kimmel when the first couple of the US called for ABC to take action against him when he joked about her being an "expectant widow."
The gag aired days before a gunman opened fire at the White House Correspondents Dinner just outside of the ballroom, where Trump, Melania and Vice President Vance were in attendance, along with other officials.
It was later decided that Kimmel would remain as host, despite the controversy over his remarks about the Trump family, according to several sources. An official from ABC also confirmed that the 58-year-old host isn't facing any consequences despite his controversial comment.
Kimmel’s monologue mocked the event’s decision to feature a mentalist rather than a comedian. The comments prompted people to call for the show host to be cancelled following the incident where the President was targeted in a shooting at the event.
Jimmy Kimmel aired a skit
"You have a glow like an expectant widow," Jimmy said. "You know, Melania's birthday is on Sunday. She's planning to celebrate at home the way she always does - looking out a window and whispering, 'What have I done?'" Jimmy’s Melania-focused humour generated mixed reactions among people, but ABC seemed to support him, as a source stated that the network "is sticking by" the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host and "don't plan to suspend him, fire him or cancel the show."
Nevertheless, Melania responded to the joke, saying, "Kimmel's hateful and violent rhetoric is intended to divide our country. His monologue about my family isn't comedy - his words are corrosive and deepen the political sickness within America." She added, "Enough is enough. It is time for ABC to take a stand. People like Kimmel shouldn't have the opportunity to enter our homes each evening to spread hate."
