Melania Trump's speech clarifying her rumored ties with Jeffrey Epstein backfires
Melania Trump Denies Epstein Ties—but Speech Sparks Uproar Over Surprise Book Plug
Melania Trump’s sudden statement on clarifying her relationship with convicted offender Jeffrey Epstein in front of the world caught many off guard. If this was not enough, some social media users found her using the moment to promote her book to be even more disturbing. While some called her shameless, others questioned the motive behind her decision to discuss her rumored ties to Epstein.
According to the Irish Star, Melania issued her statement from the White House foyer about the speculations surrounding her rumored association with Epstein.
The first lady said, “The lies linking me to the disgraceful Jeffrey Epstein need to end today. The individuals lying about me are devoid of ethical standards, humility, and respect. I do not object to their ignorance, but rather, I reject their mean-spirited attempts to defame my reputation."

She added, “I've never been friends with Epstein. Donald and I were invited to the same parties as Epstein from time to time, since overlapping in social circles is common in New York City and Palm Beach."
The former model’s statement further said, “To be clear, I never had a relationship with Epstein or his accomplice, Maxwell. My email reply to Maxwell cannot be categorized as anything more than casual correspondence. My polite reply to her email doesn't amount to anything more than a trivial note.”
One of the most striking confessions in her speech included her revealing that Epstein was not responsible for her meeting her husband, Donald Trump. Instead, she revealed that she met the now-President at a New York City party. However, she also found an opportunity to promote her coffee table memoir, Melania, which was released in 2024.
Social media users found this particular statement rather tone-deaf and uncalled for. Melania said, “I am not Epstein's victim. Epstein did not introduce me to Donald Trump. I met my husband by chance at a New York City party in 1998. This initial encounter with my husband is documented in detail in my book, Melania. At the time, I had never met Epstein and had no knowledge of his criminal undertakings."
A report in Mirror U.S. revealed how social media users were left aghast with Melania Trump finding out an opportunity to promote her book during her speech. A social media user said, “Ah, there's that plug for her book.”

Another X user added, “Being shameless is a feature with the Trumps.” A user on X chimed in, “Woman with ZERO credibility says wuh?” A social media user called Melania, “Queen of grift.”
Another social media user said, “Grift runs deep in this family. What a shame.” Some X users questioned the timing of her sudden statement clarifying her past rumored equation with Jeffrey Epstein.
An X user said, “Doing this out of the blue, she knows what’s coming and is covering up her tracks.” Another user on X said, “Call me cynical, but I suspect that some story on Jeffrey-Melania is about to drop. This is bizarre.”
In closing, the first lady threatened legal action against anyone who continued to insinuate any connection between her and Epstein. She said, “My attorneys and I have fought these unfounded and baseless lies with success and will continue to maintain my sound reputation without hesitation.”
